    Yup - same in N Warks. Farm land and a golf course about to disappear under new housing behind us, as council's local plan is 6 years out of date. Was protected land in the last valid one.

    The problem with all governments that I can remember working with (which only goes back 50-odd years) is that they think that tinkering with the planning system will produce desirable new development, usually houses or employment-generating commercial space. They never learn that one can produce planning permissions until they come out of one's metaphorical ears but nothing will get built unless someone can make a profit from it. There is an exception to this of course and that is when a public body makes a political decision to build houses. We don't see much of that these days.
