Whilst were on the topic, regarding 34058 `SFP`. It is now about a year since the loco arrived at the MHR from the AVR, is there likely to be any movement from Alresford up to Ropley in the near future so the owner and his group can resume work on her soon?

Im only asking the question as there seems to be a complete lack of info regarding this loco and its restoration(or lack of) and the old website is now sadly closed down.

I know that the owner is collecting and manufacturing parts, but work was being carried out on the frames prior to movement to the MHR.

I suppose lack of space at Ropley at the moment is holding things up a bit and perhaps a movement up from Alresford wont take place until at least 76017 and 30506 are outshopped late this year or early next.

I do not think there will be any space Andrew as the Ivatt is now in the yard which I understand is due for a boiler lift soon.

I've been trying to popularise my patented [wibble] [/wibble] warnings but seemingly to no avail...

    Incidentally, who owns 41312?

Ah, thanks Chris for the update. Good to hear though about progress on the Ivatt, a very useful loco for off peak services.

Comments seen elsewhere indicate that 34053 Sir Keith Park has been moving under its own steam at Bridgnorth today. Excellent news!

Interesting, and good to see some action around this locomotive after its unfortunate false-start in preservation.

Looks like 34051 is venturing away from the NRM to Dorset. Latest HR says 34051 is off to the Great Dorset Steam fair.

I wonder if it is heading anywhere else down south for its much-publicised makeover? Surely they wouldn't go through all that expense getting it from York to Dorset without it stopping somewhere else on its return (he speculates!)... One of those funny situations where it will be interesting to see what happens after the GDSF. I also note that The Railway Magazine has also commented on 35011 being un-rebuilt, so I'm starting to believe my eyes. If there is a bit more substance behind the story, then there will be a lot of interest in this one...

Seems odd to take 34051 to the GDSF, every loco that goes when the weather is good gets covered in dust, 80078 & 35005 for example. But I suppose it's a good bit of publicity and might raise some more money for the restoration. But with HR saying it, I'll believe it when I see it.

A bit more dust won't matter, should have seen it when it was in the station hall!

Can't see this anywhere else on this page, but 34051 is heading to the MHR after the GDSF for the Autumn Gala.
