AFAIK, there have been no substantive updates on 34092 since the 'first fire lit in 20 years' story this time last year. I'd say its reasonable to presume that it will emerge this year, but not necessarily in the next couple of months. On the other hand, the clock is ticking...

35006 does appear to be in pretty advanced shape, and there was talk in SR that it will be in light steam by the time of the Cotswold Festival of Steam 2013 in May. Will have to wait until the next update is published to confirm.

34027's boiler is due (if it hasn't already arrived), but will need 'plumbing in'.

All in all, anyone's guess, really, despite my surmising in my previous post...

Don't see why you have to!

It's been on the GWSR website for the gala lineup for months now.

It is the historian's curse to sit on the fence on every topic. Hence why I'm not really a betting man!

Rather more than that I think - there are most of the stays still to make and fit if I have interpreted the reports of the installation of a cmc lathe at Bridgenorth correctly. 34101 is probably closer to completion from this point of view

Wasn't 34092 being used for wheeldrop demonstrations at the KWVR Gala? I have only seen one picture of it from that event and it didn't how she looked.

As for Wadebridge I can't wait to hopefully see her and 34105 together with the higher sided tenders. Wonder if they will both have the late crest to fit with the MHR BR liviered locos.

I was kind of hoping that 34105 has the earlier style of emblem lion over the wheel again. Before the fire in the boiler shop a few years back now 31806 tender has sporting the lion over the wheel but for some reason on its return the tender had the later style of emblem. But what would be nice to see is 34007 in malachite green with British Railways on the tender.

Just a shame WCRC did convert 34067 tender in to a high sided tender and put 34067 in malachite green with BR on the tender.

I too hope one has the early crest. I'd like to see another Malachite Bulleid seeing as 21C123 won't be steaming for quite a while.

Here is my video from yesterday's Cathedrals Express to Bristol, featuring 35028 Clan Line, as well as 34067 Tangmere, which was, for an unknown reason, working to Bristol.

Unfortunately the video will not load for me on Youtube, gives the running time of 11.26 but just get a black screen with a circle of spinning dots.

Tangmere is due to return from Bristol this morning. Indeed, she should be setting out any moment now. Any idea why she went to Bristol for St Patrick's day? Was it a running-in or test run? A photo-call for some publicity?

Does anyone have any more information about the remaining MN's yet to be restored? Are they still in the queue? what about 34016?

From the top of my head:

35005 is at Eastleigh in store awaiting overhaul; 35006 is nearing the end of restoration; 35009 is still waiting patiently in the queue behind Mr Riley's clutch of 'Black Fives'; 35010 is still under preventative maintenance at Colne Valley, requiring £50,000 for a new cylinder casting; 35011 has gone quiet after a brief flurry of news last year, although the worrying thing is that the group's website is down; 35018 is in the queue for overhaul at Carnforth, presumably for aftert the final completion of 45699; 35022 is in pieces at Bury with boiler projected to be used on 35027; 35025 has gone pretty quiet; 35027 is at Bury for overhaul to mainline standards; 35028 is currently doing what MNs do best; 35029 won't be going anywhere very fast in its current condition ;).

There is still the question of what is going on with 34073.

34016 Bodmin is still on the MHR.

.......... and it isn't a Merchant Navy! (and neither is 34073)

Obviously not, but I thought it worth mentioning 34073 seeing as Light Pacifics were included in the original question.

35025 is at Sellindge looking most forlorn. I hope somebody can prove me wrong and say that it has a future....

Nothing much is going on with 34073 is it? I don't think that there is a very ready market in Barry condition locos at the moment. It'll take a colossal commitment to get that one running again.

35005 is in store awaiting ovehaul, and the team that did Cheltenham is champing at the bit to get on with it once the money has been raised.

Yesterday, I visited Devon to see Ian Riley's Black 5 45407 and 34067 on the Mayflower. My video from the day is below.

The video features shots from Thatcham and Kintbury (34067 solo - both in a blizzard!), Whiteball, Newton Abbot and Hemerdon.
