Almost. Braunton has a 5250 gallon tank, the BR era re-body applied to a few MN and WC/BB tenders and found behind Braunton post rebuilding (though I believe the one behind Braunton now is all new). Lord Dowding had the 5500 gallon body as shown in your picture, with the odd raised centre section of water tank behind the bunker, as originally fitted to 34071 onwards; Lord Dowding acquired one when rebuilt, but originally had the narrow 4500 gallon tank, without the odd bit in the centre.

For a temporary re-naming to honour the man, it really doesn't matter.

I doubt anyone would complain if someone did decide to go all-out and reunite all operational BBs in one place (plus 34046/52 as guest). However, it would probably be less likely than getting the three temporarily consecutive Bulleids together.

Apologies I got a bit muddled with the tenders and got them the wrong way round but as you say for a temporary renumbering it doesn't matter. Tender were swopped around periodically anyway.

Random question, does anyone know of any companies that make full sized replicas of Merchant Navy nameplates?

Does anyone have any information or knowledge about what is happening with 35025 Brocklebank Line, tried contacting the association no response so far (sent email 5 weeks ago), years and years outside would have done here no good and I know she is getting worse and worse.

The Bulleid 4DD group were working at Sellindge this weekend in the background of one of there photos (Which has now disappeared) you can see her and doesnt looked to have any work done. The boiler is still to the left of the locomotive with the cab and tender top in between the two. The gentleman who owns her did send a message of congratulations to the 35006 team last year when they announced there first steam movements so he is still active in the steam community.

    Edit: found it

I have not been to Selinge for a few years, but in the time i was there no work was done on 35025, the owner tried on one show to raise funds, but i cant remember any serious attempts to raise funds, so i think its a case of no support group, and limited, or no funds, to progress it, its really in limbo, the chairman cant seem to get a group together, and its largely forgotten about, also at the time, there was mess room talk about the work that had been done at Loughborough , possibly having to at the least be inspected or even re done, but no one can say for sure ,but its tied up with why they had to leave the GCR ,And in the time its been sat there will have deteriorated. so unfortunately, its a similar situation to 35011, but they at least seem to have turned a corner. the future for 35025, is i fear as collection of parts, sold at auction when Brian Seddon has passed on and no one can trace any other shareholders

Raking up some old photos I took, this is one of 35025 on the GCR back in September 2006.
Bet it looks nothing like that now!

A taster from this mornings mini charter at the MHR - photting the photters

34007's last day in traffic, leaving a void in Bulleid motive power on the line for a year or so, barring any visitors........... 92 Squadron would be a good stand in!

Talking of original Bulleids, there's an unconfirmed rumour that the reason Tangmere is not on the Cathedrals Express to Chester this weekend is that at some point it will be towed back to Carnforth to supplement the LMS stable on the various steam charters coming up. So at last a quality SR loco will be up north although a bit of a gap until Braunton and Clan Line reappear in the south.:(

Yes it would although @BillyReopening it's probably always wise to view with suspicion anything out of the ordinary posted on April 1st. :D
