If an extension was granted to do the extra SSEs, then I should think it reasonable to believe that it should be available until the end of the month. It is currently simmering in the North Yard at the NRM.

No doubt rear end assistance now, also, route change on the return, to Man Vic, then Wigan NW before Preston...

What time does it depart? RTT aren't being forthcoming with the goods but it'd be nice to try and work out what time to get up.

Seems to suggest return via Rochdale, as it states ' hauled throughout by 45690 Leander', if it was back via Copy she would be on the wrong end at Vic, for return to Preston.

Probably want to Strip the 8 ASAP to get it ready for next spring - assuming a full boiler exam is required, hence 5X on this job???

Would have preferred 48151 to 45690, but this is the hand chance has given us. As a further point, I'm just glad it's running.

Unless they can get through Rochdale and use the new Todmorden curve. Copy Pit twice in one day for the crew.

Well, with 5.1/2 hrs to get from Buxton to Vic, I would say there IS a chance it will go via Copy, but I fully expect the statement ' hauled throughout by 45690' to be incorrect and it will be DL hauled back from Vic to Carnforth.

Will just have to wait for RTT to sort itself out. As the timings currently stand, it could go pretty much via any route to Manchester from Wakefield- even Diggle has an outside chance (if only- need the track between Hudd and Park Junction by steam). Even if it does go back via Rochdale, its useful for me as I haven't yet been down the grade to Man Vic from Miles Platting (its not particularly exciting, but something I'd like to scratch off). I suspect we will have to have a DL on the back because there'd otherwise be a propelling move at Buxton to get onto the Peak Forest line.

There is a run round facility in the yard beyond the signal box.

I've been on a steam only trip which arrived and departed via the Peak Forest line and on the way in it ran round there then just had the short drag into the station to do tender first. Then the same but in reverse, so to speak, when it departed.

As I suspected, returns to Vic via Rochdale, no Copy Pit...

Timings are still not up, so I'm assuming you got an explanatory letter/email. Looking through my records, its been a while since I've done Summit Tunnel (2012) after having to bail out at Wakefield Kirkgate on a late-running 'The Hadrian' last March.

I'd have stayed on if it wasn't for the small matter of getting back to York for a rest before an 05:00 drive to Stevenage the following morning to get on 'The Easterling' to Lowestoft. Talk about mad dogs and railway enthusiasts...

Still nothing on RTT. I presume the only route between Stockport and Buxton is via Hazel Grove? I thought I might go to the Woodsmoor Lane level crossing to see it come past.
