    Surely such a beautifully restored locomotive deserves some kind of national recognition? She's been nominated, as I've already mentioned, in the Steam Railway/HRA Readers' awards at: http://www.steamrailway.co.uk

    828 is the last link we have with the express passenger engines of the Macintosh era (she has the same boiler design as one of the Dunalastair class). As one of the great locomotive engineers of his time, this is all we have left. As the only working Caledonian steam engine as well she's a flag bearer for so many different reasons and worthy of national attention.
