Well I warmed up with a bucket list shot of Thumper over Derwent dam at the weekend and I plan on seeing Vera flying from Humberside next week, plus Waddington, Dawlish and Prestwick including a private photo charter with both Lancs and the Vulcan on the Pan at Prestwick, should be fun!

Why is it that everything is either in linconshire or down south, we have not much in the Manchester area in view of air shows,as Woodford and Barton was stopped, yes we have Southport and Blackpool, but in terms of airshows then Southport is the only time we may see the 2 lancs in the area, as most was earlier in the year
In a area that designed and tested the Lanc ( Roy Chadwick) its appalling that there is nothing on this once in a lifetime opportunity, seems once again the South wins, while the north is neglected.

You obviously haven't seen her itinerary then. She will be operating flights out of Humberside airport for several days and is booked displays/flybys/visits at Teeside Airport, East Kirkby, Ludborough, Allerton Castle,
Barnoldswick, Prestwick Airport, Potrush, Windermere, Morecambe, Holmfirth, Ludford, Wickenby, Collingham, and Southport. If you reckon that lot is "neglecting the north" then you need to think again.

Yes but are these near Manchester, and are they airshows, Yes to 2 days at Southport and Prestwick near Ayr, but most are flypasts not displys, and yes have seen where its flying via their sight, that is why I said its most down south meaning airshows, 4 days for Eastbourne, with red arrows,Bournemouth 4 days,Dunsfold 2 days, so you see 8 days already gone with just these.

Just be grateful she's here. Whether it's a full display or simply a flyby. Southport isn't exactly a thousand miles from Manchester now is it? She can't be everywhere. The southern shows you mentions are regular events that happen on the same weekends every year so that's why she's going there. What are they supposed to do? Ignore these shows, cancel them?

Oh, and the main reason for her coming over is to honour the Bomber Command crews and give the surviving veterans a last chance to see two together. The fact that the rest of us can see her is just a bonus. Honouring the veterans is far more important than saving you, me and anyone else the bother of travelling more that five yards form our front door to see her.

I felt the same, cant wait for Sunday, weather permitting, the only thing missing for me was Just jane to make up a 3 ship flight , if only the plan to get that lanc in airworthy condition had started a couple of years earlier, imagine what it would have been like if Vera's visit to these shores had coincided with Janes return to the air, now that would have been a really fitting tribute to the veterans . but seeing 2 lancasters in the air is still a great sight, i know my dad will be with me in spirit when i hear the thunder of 10 merlins overhead.

I presume you'll be at Eastbourne.
There has been a hint and only a slight one at that, that Vera will make another trip if and when Just Jane is airworthy.

A few from a rather pleasant day yesterday at RAF Coningsby. Amazing noise from the pair of them that videos don't do justice to. We were very lucky with the weather too - for the second sortie they took off just as the sky cleared, and landed as the cloud rolled back in!

Is there a link to find the actual flight plan from Eastbourne to biggin hill? I can find the timings on the bbmf website but not the actual route.

Would the BBMF ever concider allowing Thumper to take a Canadian holiday? that would be a way to say thank you i bet there would be a few people in Canada that would welcome the chance to see 2 lancs the BBMF could always ship a hurricane or couple of spitfires in the hold of a globemaster if they dont have the range to do the hop
