Same here. Emotional stuff. They mean a lot to so many people; Thumper always stirs the soul when I see and hear her but the two of them together might just make me a wreck..........

Check out the take off sound on this video:

Sunday was a complete flop for the Lancasters. Predicted strong cross winds at Biggin Hil made them head back to Coningsby Saturday evening and all but one Sunday appearance scrubbed. Even this was cancelled Sunday afternoon due to the wind speed at Coningsby. Just glad they appeared just down the road from me at Old Warden on Saturday evening. Apologies to the customers whop arrived to find the shop shut but I wasn't going to miss that opportunity.
There may have been a 50 piece orchestra playing but the real music was in the air.

One thing that has me intrigued with the visit of the Canadian Lancaster, is that they "missed/arrived" just after the Sunderland Air Show which has been round for 24 years and is usually held over the last weekend of July . Don't know if they were invited or not, mind you. Over the years there have been an "odd" day when flying was canceled due to weather, the Friday this year and once the whole 3 days [Friday-Sunday] due to fog if I recall......

Whichever day they chose to arrive, they would have just "missed" an airshow somewhere. Just be thankful she made it at all.

Granted they're in a "Damned if they do/Damned if they don't" situation as there will always be someone missed out. It was with the 2 events being so close together and the B.B.M.F. visiting the Sunderland Air Show on all 3 days.

Keep checking this page. It will give you the booked times of the displays and flybys so you may be able to work out a route from those.

Thanks Paul. I still can't quite believe it's happened. Here's hoping for better weather over the next few weeks.

    Hi.
The pics I posted were from the Old Wardern Flying Proms event in rural Bedfordshire. Quite a long way from the cliffs at Eastbourne I'm afraid. :)
