It looks like we might get steam tomorrow, according to Rail-scot :

" 61994 is possie running to stirling tonight 61994 / 98542 + support coach 35486 are consisted in TRUST as at 19:45 to work 5Z61 23:15 Thornton Jn to Stirling tonight, arriving 00:37.

Might we see a K4 + Class 37 combo in the morning on 1Z62 I wonder?"

Would the movement of 44871 replace the need for scots guardsman of he Tuseday

Confirmed on IR's forum. Ian is going to Grosmont tomorrow, loco to FW on Monday to, presumably, assist 61994 back to Cadder Yard on Tuesday, then (maybe?) 46115 over Beattock and Shap on Tuesday evening. 44871 then needs to meet up with 45407 in time for Thursday's run to Carmarthen.

Meanwhile, given the various problems, I've changed my plans and am back in Oxfordshire tonight. Back to the chase on Thursday - hopefully!

It's a real shame that Tangmere has not had her chance of a visit to Scotland. Maybe she could be rostered for GBV, if it goes ahead next year. I would love to see her running over Drumochter and Slocht! I don't suppose she could be fitted with long smoke deflectors, painted Malachite green, given a Black 5 tender and adopt the identity of 34004 Yeovil for the trip, though. That's going to remain a pipe-dream, I'm sure! (Anyone wondering what I'm blathering about - I recommend "Nine Elms Engineman" by A.E. "Bert" Hooker, published by Bradford Barton, for a fireman's-eye-view of the 1948 loco exchanges!)

What's the news from Stirling this morning? Did the K4 arrive as planned last night? Although I've chickened out, the hardiest member of the Steam Age gang is still in Scotland, trying to pretend that it's nice weather for a holiday!

Thanks. So it remains to be seen whether 37706 is left behind or coupled in front!

It has been reported that the train has left Stirling on time with the K4 leading 37676.

61994 led Stirling on time, but you could clearly Hear 37676 giving it a good push, does anybody know when 46115 and 44871 are coming up ( timings ) . A big well done to all at Steam Dreams and WCRC who have tried there best to get this tour back on track.

    Did I read correctly,
44871 is now going from Fort William to London via Cardiff in 1 week... wow that is an impressive feat !
is 44871 double heading with 46115 to Oxenholme ? (would make sense, and save a LE movement, and compensate for the diesel day a bit ?)

I doubt it, since it would have just worked over the West Highland line and would need it's fire cleaned and remade, etc, which the the timings don't allow for Also, I think the train reverses at Cadder yard, departing the same way that it arrived, with 46115 attaching to the other end. Therefore, 44871 would have to turn (where?) before heading south. Finally, the train will be pathed at 75mph, but adding the black 5 would restrict it to 60. It seems to me more likely that 44871 will follow with her support coach later, perhaps on Wednesday.
