That could have been a lot worse. Well done to all concerned for doing the job, & fingers crossed for Monday.

.....but not around Morecambe Bay as No. 9 is yet another substitute loco and we are back into gauging issues. That's actually two parts of the Cath Explorer that won't happen as advertised. The Workington route is a sad loss as it's not a common steam loop and I would guess impossible to do in a day from anywhere other than a northern start.

My footage from days one and two of The Cathedrals Explorer, featuring 35028 Clan Line and 60009 Union Of South Africa. Locations featured are:

    Day 1 - Basingstoke
Day 2 - Tiverton Parkway, Taunton, Filton Abbeywood, Keynsham and Abergavenny.

    Enjoy :)

The engine allocation for the workings in the North East and back to London are still to be allocated yet. DBS 66 from Stanhope to Redmire, Redmire - Whitby, Malton to London anyone?

Im sure frantic efforts are being made to sort it out. Could Union work to London but then will need a positioning move elsewhere or to a depot. 45407 is booked for the NYMR Gala as far as I know, while the K4 was down for the part of the tour but now is not. Im guessing thats more loads and engine size than anything else. I could be wrong.

    Anyone else know anything?

Either 60009 or 60019 or a combination of the two is what I've heard.

Well, I cant see an A4 going to Whitby. The curves for the line are what has restricted Sir Nigel Gresley to the NYMR rather than let it do the whole Pickering to Whitby runs as well. However, 45407 could come and assist on the run from Stanhope to Whitby as the Gala has finished at the NYMR this weekend. Will have to wait and see...

Has Britannia been repaired following the collision and is back in order? Otherwise a movement from Bury to Stanhope would be on the cards. As yet, nothing is there...

You wont get an A4 to Whitby, the only run by SNG, caused some frame damage, which was repaired recently.
Don't think any loco owner would allow that run..

I believe the plan has always been for passengers to transfer to an NYMR train at Battersby.

Is UoSA in steam today? RTT shows the Cathedrals Explorer running a few minutes early along the North Wales Coast.

That's very good news. Here's to a good run over Shap then, to make up for the loss of the Cumbrian Coast route.
