Out of interest have the carriages been sold to the North Norfolk or are they just going away for overhaul/restoration?

Out of interest the CCT wagon on the CVR is going to Foxfield and the underframe is going to be used on a rebuild of a Midland coach. Hope that the body could be used for something useful as well. A couple of photos of it on landing pad. The original No. was 35289m the departmental No.at Crewe was M395566.

The BRCW Sandite unit and BG have gone for restoration, as 2 of the main volunteers from within that group have recently moved to Norfolk for work purposes. The BG was used as a mobile workshop, as with the corridor connection it allowed the group to work indoors and still have a separate workspace. Not sure if it's going to fulfil the same purpose or actually have some work done to it. Mr Moxon will more than likely update himself with more specifics when he gets round to it (though now he's got a new toy to play with in Norfolk it could be a while...).

More lineside clearance today at Podmore. Almost all the lineside trees by the mill pond have now gone and have been burnt - and a big bonfire it was too.

One carriage is a Mark 1 BG - this has been surplus to requirements for some time and has been sold outright to the North Norfolk Railway Company and it has taken up immediate residence at Sheringham where it has replaced a Mark 1 TSO as a storage vehicle (this releases the TSO for restoration by the railway). The BG has already been painted (green) this week to smarten it up and rid it of the graffiti as we don't have the capacity to do any bodywork or proper repainting at present.

The second departure was a Class 104 DMU coach - this hasn't been sold but has moved to the North Norfolk retaining its original owners. Two members of the owning group has recently moved to Norfolk and have already started on this vehicle's restoration. As lil Bear alludes it is "a new toy to play with"!

Neither coaches have ever operated on service trains on the CVR and neither will return. Hope this answers to queries :)

Odds & sods day today. Renewing a track circuit joint, replacing a chair and collecting a concrete sleeper for the Ipstones branch.

Back in action today with a camera that worked. The delights of 'measured jacking & packing' - note the tin cans for accurately measuring gravel to be packed under sleepers. The track at Consall will be giving the smoothest ride ever over the coming weeks.

Thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in mine! Are running dates for the N7 likely to be made available? I'd like to travel again before her ticket's up if possible..

    TIA

Yes, but bit closer the time. Her final weekend will be April 11/12, where she will haul all T1 services (it's Sci-Fi weekend with a 33 on T2). Before this she is currently booked as reserve loco for Mothering Sunday and Easter services.

After this she has a private charter with 30742, and that's it. :)

Looks like our efforts from this winter have proved useful.

Another working party were out weekend just gone, with another heading out on the 28th and Good Friday in order to try and finish this before Martin's N7 Charter on April 18th. Quick before/after for those interested...

Busy day for the pway yesterday started with 3 groups doing their own thing, then consolidating to 2 and later just the 1, jacking and packing.

A few photos including a lone pine, not many down the valley and no one wants to cut it down.

That's just 1 of 3 locations we have concentrated on this winter. The other location being the canal (as per above) and Changeover Bridge. Once Good Friday's party is over I'll do a before/after for all 3 :)
