The original plan WAS to have them published in a souvenir guide similar to what the 6880 Society did for SSS1/2.
However, with the amount of things that have changed since those original meetings I'm not too sure whether this is still happening or not.

As the KWVR have kindly advertised that 25059 will be visiting for the last two gala weekends, then rosters in advance will determine whether I visit for 1,2,3 or 4 days depending on the mileage available.

All we now need is ELR to confirm that 5054 won't be visiting and the diesel line up will be known without any information from Churnet Valley.

Is someone hoping the steam gala is a roaring success and the diesel weekend a flop, because no publicity is a good start .

Not too sure why you have such a negative attitude. If you care to read the MCR website it tells you what it coming or planned to come. As the person who has just signed the contract for the 25 it seems somewhat premature to advertise it until it is confirmed. The 24 is ongoing.

Of course if you can do a better job then I would be more than happy to hear from you. I am sure your ability to advertise the gala for us and get locos will be greatly appreciated by everyone.

Lets be honest to date we have only managed to reopen 8 miles of railway line in 7 months, hired in 3 steam locomotives, hired in a Class 33 at 24hrs notice, hired in numerous coaches and trained all our staff on the route. Therefore I am sorry that in your opinion we are not doing a good enough job of advertising the diesel gala.

Well put, Mr Wilson! What has been achieved by a very dedicated team in such a short time is phenomenal - and to see the training runs going all the way to 'Caldon Junction' on Sunday confirmed that you WILL deliver what was advertised. Frankly, guys who are griping about whether one should get out of bed or not simply because their pet loco isn't going to be on a particular train are missing the point of this Gala. Many of us will be gratefully celebrating the efforts involved and achievements made in resurrecting a much-loved line in beautiful moorland scenery. I for one shall be raising a toast or two to MCR and CVR and all the volunteers in making this event so unique and exciting and shall be happy to be pulled up that formidable grade by ANY loco OK, I admit I WILL draw the line at Thomas the Tank Engine taking the first train up!!!

Not to mention the Intermediate overhaul of 5199 that has taken place in just 3 1/2 months and also the team that are working flat out to get 33102 ready for the diesel gala.

You just can't please some people!

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

Seems a bit of an overreaction - I'm sure D7076 wasn't criticising the effort that's gone into reopening the line, but the traction is still important to a gala! "Come and see the opening of our fantastic new football stadium... We MIGHT tell you who's playing" wouldn't attract many punters? I'll be there anyway for a chance to hear the 5 and the 8 worked properly, but it'd be nice to know which diesels are working! It's worth remembering that many diesel enthusiasts will only travel for specific classes - fickle? Maybe, but if those classes are running it's as well to let people know - fickle punters are still paying passengers...

SLL would really like visitors to the CVR to take photos of Eddystone while it's away from its Swanage home, and enter them for the "SLL Autumn Tour" photo competition. Details can be found here:

http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/News/news.html please scroll down to "September News".

It's mainly for fun, but there is a prize; one of Richard Green's ( http://www.locos-in-profile.co.uk/ ) prints of Sir Keith Park or 257 Squadron.

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

First post, and I had to write and apologise for jumping the gun a bit on the KWVR website. A slight bit of misunderstanding between myself and the Class 25's caretaker was the root cause. I had been aware of the potential for a visit for some time, but a bit of a mix up led me to believe that the details were now confirmed - which it seems they were not finally as the agreement had not been signed, sealed and delivered. So, apologies to Greg and everyone else for the various discussions above which stemmed from the post on the KWVR website. Entirely my fault - hands up!

All being well 34028 and 8624 will be taking a 12 coach test train from Froghall - Cauldon Lowe tomorrow night!

71000 is due to arrive tomorrow.

5199 has its insurance steam test tomorrow and all being well should be out on the line 'running in' late tomorrow/ Thursday.

Whilst not a public train 71000 will be out on the line on Friday for people who have supported the project such as local MP's etc.

    Regards

    Chris

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

Am having great difficulty in working out bus times from Stoke to Cheddleton for next Wednesday.
Have sorted that have to go to Hanley (in Stoke) but an buggered if i can found out exact times of buses.
Now travelling up from the the sunny (ish) Dorset coast I dont particulary want to be stuck in Stoke and miss out on any fine ales in Chedd on the Weds night.

Any help would be gratefully received

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

In response to Greg Wilson I have nothing but admiration for what has been achieved on the branch in such a short space of time.
Also for the steam line up obtained and advertised over two months ago.

However,on the website multiple day tickets are advertised, but until we know which diesels are attending those with an interest in diesels or diesels and steam do not know how many days we wish to attend.
Likewise what each loco is doing also matters-£25 for a day of 25059 on two trips on the Leekbrook only runs-no thanks- two trips to Caldon Lowe-yes please.

As for advertising-www.pleg.org.uk-the premier site for diesel gala gen is now advertising 25059 as an attraction(unlike your own site) as a result of your posting.

If you would be kind enough to supply timetables with roster loco allocations these will also be uploaded and increase your paying travelling passengers by a significant amount FOC.

Re: Churnet Valley Railway& Moorland & City Railways Cauldon Lowe Branch re-opening G

You should be in for a treat then, as all being well, 25059 will have a good share of the Cauldon trains, being one of the last locos to have gone up in BR days...

However what everyone should also bear in mind is that the Cauldon Line is quite lengthy with no passing places, so (like any long line) there aren't 20 trains going up & back each day. So I hope folks won't expect their favourite locos to be going up 3 or 4 times in one day! The three weekends have been designed so that hopefully there will be at least 1 day that offers what everyone is looking for - should be an excellent show :)
