Bit of a bump, but if anyone is subscribed, this event seems to have been cancelled. :(

Source: News from the Black Lion owners.

Is there any confirmation of this? I'm very depressed.

The event has not been cancelled, 2 Locos from CVR wont be able to run at the gala, the S160 is not ready and 44767 has failed or something.

Slight change to the event time "Cauldon Lowe Steam Weekend" with GWR 5199 & MRH Black 5 45379.

As said in post's below this one, the CVR is trying very hard to secure a 3rd loco for the weekend.

From what i've been told from a CVR member of staff that the event is most deffo going ahead... it's still going to be a good weekend! Thing's happen but hey!

Take a look: CVR Steam Gala

That's true! Will be a good weekend for everyone visiting the railway! I know that the CVR are working hard to make it good. :)

Yeah, I am thinking of asking about volunteering soon after the event after they've had a rest.

Why wait? They need more volunteers, like any other railway does. Best bet is to contact Greg Wilson on here or pop down!

Sure someone from CVR can point you in the right direction.

What is Greg's username on the forum?

Otherwise, I visit my mum in ipstones every so often so I may pop down.

To anyone that's unsure about coming to the event the black lion are holding a real ale festival on the 24th 25th 26th February with 20 real ales and 16 ciders available and a blues brothers tribute band on the sat night starting about half 8

Exactly who are you and what qualifies you to presume to be the ultimate authority on me and what i do. If I weren't working my backside off trying to make a living in this current economic climate driving to work in Nantwich every day from my home in Wales actually spending more money on petrol than I'm earning just so I don't lose my job I might not mind taking time off to go to an event that now isn't happening and being fobbed off by the likes of you who go around getting people's hopes up and then lecturing me when I get upset.

In all fairness it's not fair to respond to problems at a preserved railway, nothing is guaranteed with these machines, I can almost guarantee they are going mad trying to find additional locos for the event.

That's like having a go at your pizza delivery driver because his car broke down, there's nothing you can do about it, and at least you still get pizza.

Absolutely right, of course, and I know that everyone at the CVR is a nice bloke, or bloket, but certain people at the CVR don't exactly have the world's best track record for paying railways for the use of their locomotives. Shouldn't they be focusing on that rather than, say, installing a new loop?
No doubt I'll get into trouble for saying this but I know other people are annoyed with the line. It isn't easy to get the balance right but it isn't fair to put other people in a compromising situation.

I like how they're still going to charge the same price for a day rover that was put in place for 5 locos when now they've only got 2... I'm more than likely going to split one with a friend now for a quick run behind the Black 5, and spend more time at the Black Lion :)

Although the food and ale in the Black Lion are both superb, you should stop being a cheapskate & buy separate tickets.
