The CVR website now shows two bus departures from Stoke-on-Trent station on Saturday at 09.05 and 10.35, and just one, at 10.25, on Sunday, returning from Froghall at 16.25 and 17.40 on Saturday and 17.25 on Sunday. Journey time approx 30 minutes.

Next weekend's beer was delivered to the Black Lion by train yesterday, as it used to be in the 1950's. Here are a couple of shots I took, and I am looking forward to drinking some of this on Friday night!

S160 5197 has passed its steam test today to satisfy the boiler inspector. Subject to approval by HMRI the engine should be granted a ticket until the end of the year. Subject to this approval the engine will be in steam for the gala

    Regards

    Chris

After much consideration, I have decided to visit the CVR on the Saturday only. This will be my 1st visit to the CVR.

Hmm, not thought of this before, for two stable mates, 5197 & 5199 as so close they must be!, how different they look, must be down to GWR & BR black colours!

Only Joking, hope the weather behaves itself.

I think the CVR is the possibly the only railway that does banking the proper way?

I assume it will be the same as last year, pay at the shop at Cheddleton then take your receipt to the loco shed where you get a safety briefing and your pass. If its any different I'm sure Steve will let us know.[/quote:2gkxiit9]

Does anyone know how much they are ? if it's really as simple as turn up, pay get safety briefed and away you go then it sounds like a good place to start proper linesiding as opposed to public area's, is anything other than an orange jacket required ?.

the railway is covered in snow and will be good for the photographers, the roads are all clear after a heavy spread of grit so getting there is not a problem at the moment,

All engines apart for 5199 had fires lit today, Ring Haw was on steam test and also been used to shunt the yard

    Regards

    Chris

Connections will be possible at Consall. It was too late to make changes to the timetable to reflect these connections. A lesson to be learnt for future we must read and re-read the timetable !

As Yanky has said the place is covered in snow but the roads have all been gritted.
