Times are up also for the final scheduled steam run on 16th. That appears to run to Ashford via Redhill and then back via Redhill with no apparent reversal to allow steam to lead again so perhaps top and tailed diesels again.

The route is also dependant on which signalling centres will be open during the RMT strike with management staff on duty.

Sorry - what steam run on the 16th? There's nothing on RH about one that day - is that an error on their part? The other runs (Santa) are cancelled that day. Edit - seen now on the BBP site with a "steam-hauled locomotive"!! Strongly suspect that will be diesel as well but would like to be proved wrong please.

Total speculation here, but Tangmere is still at Southall and hasn't gone back north. 44871 did today, could they not have sent them both back?
There isn't a sign of it being on Saturdays Belmond. So, is Tangmere just 'sitting out' its time it was supposed to stay at Southall for these Belmonds its no longer doing, or is it the 'Carnforth Steam Loco' RTC are using at the beginning of next year?

I find Railway Herald misses some of the tours off its listings so it’s worth having an eye on Steam Dreams, RTC, Belmont & Saphos websites!

apologies if I've missed but does anyone know if 34067 Tangmere ran on Saturday's (10/12) run to Dover?

It does seem strange, as well as disappoining, that Tangmere has only been used in place of Clan Line on one trip. Those who were on UKRT's run with the Pullmans on 26th November seem to have been very lucky.

If Tangmere has run with the stock one assumes there is something else behind the scenes which is causing the problem?

I think the most I can say is that you assume correctly...

    Trackside states it’s ASLEF

If so, that's a further puzzle. Why would crew be available for a diesel but not for steam, and why would ASLEF have any issue with a train operated by either DBS or WC, neither of which companies they are in dispute with?

The only reason i can think of is that DBS have an agreement that ASLEF members crew their trains, but West coast, as a separate company possibly , don't insist on its crews being ASLEF members .

Quite. I am just reporting what is in the Trackside article. Whilst the report contained my image I did not mention ASLEF but suggested it was to do with DB crews working a West Coast engine
