Sat at Carlisle, waiting to follow the Leeds stopper and probably won’t be with you for another 80-90 mins! So you might be wet by then haha!

Today's trip looks like it's been a struggle. Looped going north because of steaming/coal. And on the S&C dropped ten minutes to Appleby and a further 20+ to Hellifield. You win some, you lose some I guess.

Talking of winning and losing, with a train running so late it's always a problem knowing when it will be slotted into the schedule. As soon as it was RTT showed it having left Hellifield we set off and headed to Ramsgreave & Wilpshire. We got held up behind a learner and were stopped at all but one of the traffic lights (12 sets?). I had thought that with Galatea's earlier issues it would be slotted in behind the 18.23 Clitheroe to Rochdale. But no, it ran in front and as we parked the chuff-chuff-chuff sound to our left and the trail of exhaust above the bushes confirmed that we had just missed it.

A thrash over to Pleasington and pray that the train would be held for a few minutes at Daisyfield Jn. Again all but one of the traffic lights (7?) were on red. We parked up and hurried to the over bridge where a check of RTT revealed that the CME went straight thro' at Daisyfield and had passed Pleasington 2 mins earlier. At least we tried!

No. 45627 'Sierra Leone' working the return 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' over Crosby Garrett viaduct in typical S&C weather with David Blair driving, Rob Russell firing and Roly Parker Guard

    Settle & Carlisle 45231 1 NP.jpg

And even in wetter conditions No. 45231 'The Sherwood Forester' heading the 'Settle & Carlisle tour north through Crosby Garrett

    PS23 1 NP.jpg

And for a bit of fun the shot I was hoping for but not to be

Oh dear one of those things sadly hence I don’t trust RTT at times.
