In all honesty the best place to re-inact the last train over the MTA would be the Central Wales route Oh how I wish it could be possible. One can only dream.

I do wonder if it would be at all possible to relax some of the requirements on very lightly used routes to make such runs possible, similar to the NYMR running on the main line around Whitby.

    Cheers Dave

    Hi,
Much as that would be so appropriate sadly we can only operate 1054/7799/58926 over 'heritage' lines as the loco is not certificated for main line use. Whilst much can be re-created on its 'home turf' on the KWVR the distinctive workmanlike LNWR outline - and exhaust - will be seen on other lines as part of the outreach programme was was part of the original BLS bid to the HLF. 2012 will see the engine at Llangollen, the NRM and the Severn Valley Railways whilst its diary for 2013/14 should see it used on lines and areas that it has not yet visited during its preservation career.

As I have said before, I would very much like 1054 (and 49395) to visit the P&BR. Proper LNW line in S. Wales. Now there is somewhere to recreate the last train from Abergavenny to Merthyr!

    Hi,
As far as a visit by 58926 is concerned that cannot be ruled out although it was not possible to schedule such a visit in 2012.

Couldn't find a more recent suitable thread... but does anyone know the plan for 1054 this year? Would really like to see it if possible

Think I'll have to pay my first visit there for that one.

You'll enjoy it, I promise. Friendly railway, fun (!) gradients, and two very appropriate locos for the gala. Visit Big Pit too whilst you're there - well worth it, and free entry!
