So the strumming duff goes on the back if an A4 is on the front but on the inside if 1015 is on the front. Thank god it cannot be in two places at once in two weeks time, but still fearing the thing on the front in the morning as far as Didcot.

Well it certainly ran behind the tender of Nunney Castle last season with the Torbay Express.
At least with a two tone green 47 this combination did run in BR service in the 1960s-1970s.
I have it on good authority that the Western leg of the 'Z48' railtour in two weeks time is to be double-headed to Devon.
As with yesterday I would take great joy in being proved wrong. <BJ>

I thought the 47 was going to be at Oxford to take 5043 and it's portion home, does it run light there ahead of 5043 then ?.

The very same person who informed me of the Western + 47 working to Devon now tells me that the Western will work solo!! :)
Good news indeed and I'm glad to be able to set the record straight. <BJ>

Yes we have a Mk2 TSO out for repair, hence the borrowed WCR TSO.

As it stands today....D1015 will be solo for 10th May both in the morning to Plymouth and return via Lickey and New St in the evening. I do not see this changing.

The 47 was in the consist to Paignton for ETH only. It was shut down after Bristol TM in the am. The weather on the return was not the best, so again the 47 was on ETH duty only on the return. It shouldn't have upset anyone - D1015 was making a supurb noise on the way home....I could hear loud and clear all the way at the rear of the train!

We took the 52/47 off at Paignton so we could switch to local steam....we are still primarily a steam railtour company after all! :)

A Western on 4 should take off like the USS Enterprise frankly.

Any idea at this early stage what way the stock will be ? eg. Standard class at the front on the way to Plymouth, or at the back ?
