I unexpectedly happened across this class 25 loco this afternoon whilst out for a walk.

I can't find much info about it's recent past online, it having moved from the SVR to the Dean Forest Railway in 2003.

It's clearly moved from there, given that I'm on the edge of The Potteries, but does anyone know anything about it's current status and any future plans?

    Thanks in advance

IIRC it was sold to Harry Needle who moved it to its current location at Reid Freight Services. No idea what the actual plans for it are though I’m afraid.

Thanks Pete. It was only idle curiosity, having been surprised to have my momory jogged by seeing a D prefix numbered loco when I least expected it :)

It still carries the well worn paint and D numbers that I applied way back in 1989!

Was much work done to it since then? It certainly wasn’t in the best of health when it left the SVR.

You did that Gary?! I remember helping clean it as a yoof back in 1998 and the double arrow was showing through the paintwork.

Fascinating! It was the D and rather distinctive font of the numbers which jolted me out of my reveries as I had an afternoon stroll. I took a couple of pics with my phone but it was too far away for the pictures to be worth sharing.

A rather poor image of D7633 in Kidderminster C&W, Robin Jones was doing the mechanical work while i did the paintwork.

Trying to think about the last time I had it, must have been about 1999 when it acted as brake translator and when my association with 57002 began.

For what it's worth, a crop of a digitally zoomed phone picture taken today. I'll try to get a shot with a real camera if I can.

I suppose if it has been sold to Harry Needle Railroad it is no longer preserverd and could well be broken up for spares. upload_2021-1-7_12-44-52.jpeg

A few years ago Bridgnorth PW declared it as ‘non preserved’ there was a reluctance from various diesel groups based on the SVR to let the said PW group use their machines due to alleged inability to look after them.

I had forgotten that I did a small amount of body repairs before I painted it.
