This Saturday (4th) will see Deltic D9009 Alycidon run a Pathfinder charter from Derby to Kingswear and return.

Timings have been issued but Pathfinder have rejected them due to the short amount of time at the destination.

Here's what the timings look like at the moment:

    Out: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U63069/2015/07/04/advanced

    Return: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U63070/2015/07/04/advanced

I'm not surprised with nine pick up points ! Bit late to reject timings.

    Long day for Derby passengers!
BTW why was this thread moved from "What's Going On"?

Yeah, is a bit of a long day but not too bad value really for standard passengers for a nice day trip, especially to also cover a preserved railway aswell.

I don't know why it was moved. I posted it thinking anything Railtours related goes under 'What's Going On' but not so...

Can this be moved back to "What's Going On" where it belongs...?

Why - or am I looking in the wrong places, are there so few 'preserved diesel' tours - 25,33,45/6, 50/52 tours?

Yes should they have rejected them earlier before they received them?

Lack of driver knowledge perhaps, locos too expensive to hire, younger enthusiasts quite happy with a 66 or 67 .....the list goes on.

There was a 25 tour to Battersby last Saturday-as far as it's allowed.
33,45, tours-require a mainline certified one to be operational first.
46 require one to be operational first, mainline certified second.
52 may be a couple of tours later this year,1015 been oos since last December.
50-couple mainline certified and operational but then crewing issues come into play...

What's Going On is generally for steam trips. For example, the various UKRT diesel tours do not appear there but would do so on this thread if people felt the need. Combined steam/diesel might find their way onto WGO. Hope that explains.

Perhaps the organisers have bitten off too much in respect of the complications of the itinerary which is bound to give pathing problems. Possibly driver knowledge in regard both to route and traction is difficult. It is a long day, just think how much longer it would be with water stops!

Thanks for the explanation but I think the description could be changed if this is the case as it currently says:

Mainline activity near you. The tours and Specials that everyone wants to know about.

Seeing as this is a mainline tour I though it was the right place to post. :)

I agree, this tour needs to be moved to what's going on. This is definitely a long day for passengers getting on at, Derby, though they'll be rewarded on the return trip, with a blast up the Lickey.

Can anyone confirm the details on RTT? Pathfinder gives the last outward stop before Paignton as Cheltenham Spa, but RTT gives a stop at Bristol. And the return is via Westbury and Bath!

    Thanks

I think it is just a pathing stop and/or a crew change.

Well spotted that man. Although the train is diverted via Westbury and Bath on the return, the timings
for Taunton and Cheltenham are virtually the same. See below. <BJ>
