1:36 of the Ilfracombe branch is as steep as pretty much anything the Green With Rivets brigade dealt with. :p

Tom confirmed the Dukedog's tender was leaving the Bluebell on one of the Bluebell related threads.

I don't recall a succession of coal trains departing Cardiff to head UP the Valleys, either.;)

Yes. Already at Toddington I believe.

From the Bluebell website : - "The Dinmore Manor Group have taken on hire the tender from Dukedog No.9017, for a minimum 12 month contract. The colour and design of the tender fits with the appearance of the recently overhauled Dinmore Manor and the Bluebell is pleased to be able to assist the group while they complete the overhaul of their own tender."

I don't think so! The Abergavenny in question was a major shareholder. The other loco, Bessborough, was named after the Earl of Bessborough, who was the Chairman.

Just as much of a challenge to stop hand braked coal trains as start them you know. And we've already discussed the Ebbw Vale iron ore traffic. But this isn't a very fruitful dialogue.

Hang on, I've thought of a relevant question! When does 7820's boiler ticket begin, the boiler at least has had a couple of steamings, which one set the clock ticking, or has that one yet to happen yet?

Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't the boilet clock technically start with a successful hydraulic test ?.

The interpretation of what is required varies from Competent Person to Competent Person and should be detailed in the Written Scheme. Quite often the Competent Person will issue a Part 1 certificate after a thorough exam which requires a Part 2 (working/In steam) exam within 8 weeks. Providing this happens, you will usually get twelve months from the working exam. If not, it will be 14 months from the thorough. Usually, with a boiler overhaul, the Part 1 exam is carried out over several visits and the certificate is issued after the hydraulic test. However, as far as I know, there is no laid down rule.

Just getting the re-railing gear out and getting this thread back on track... ;)

7820 moved under her own power for the first time in nearly 10 years at Toddington on Saturday evening. All being well the ex-9017 tender will be coupled up this week paving the way for more extensive test running to take place later in the week. One or two have asked when she will first be hauling passenger trains, at this stage it is far to early to say conclusively, all we can say at this point is that there is an aim for early April but as always could be subject to change.

I see on the Dinmore Manor facebook page that the loco completed its first loaded test run yesterday. https://www.facebook.com/DinmoreManorLocomotiveLtd?fref=ts I hope no serous problems were found.

Any chance it will be in action this weekend? (even if only completing further test runs)

I doubt she will be out and about during the weekend, as the railway will be running, more likely to be found during the week when no service trains are running as so far.

Thanks Alex. I guessed as much, and it's a pity, but not long to wait until she enters public service.

The roster hasn't been updated yet, so there's still hope! She's doing a photo charter next week I think, but not really the done thing to tag along of course...

7820 rostered locomotive this weekend 5th and 6th April. Subject to no problems appearing on the photo charters this week and all the usual caveats about booked locomotives! Even better as I'm the rostered driver Saturday!

Andy has just beat me to it! Looking forward to it.

    In addition:

On Saturday the 19th of April we have a special evening train, hauled by 7820, for our shareholders and invited guests. We have a strictly limited number of spaces available to people who may be interested in getting involved and volunteering with DMLL and who would like to come and find out more about us.

We hope to be able to give interested parties a close up look at our next project, 2874, and discuss many of the varied tasks such a restoration project entails, there may just be an element of the work that you feel is 'right up your street'! So if you have a bit of spare time, enjoy working in a friendly team, with a bit of banter thrown in for good measure, not to mention plenty of tea and a real sense of achivement after a days volunteering DMLL might be just what you are looking for!

For full details please get in touch either via a message on here or via an email to dinmoremanor@hotmail.co.uk
