Although I do admire the SVR's set of Stanier and Ivatt coaches, for me it could be enhanced by the substitution of a couple, or three, of these vehicles with LMS Period I and II stock. Just to add the variety of style that was so typical of the LMS and BR(M), not to mention the other railways.

    Regards

Bit behind with my reading, so apologies for not commenting sooner to this thread. You have all made interesting points.

Actually, I now work for a small, specialist outfit that could make some of these types of dreams come true! But as with everything - money, time and other resources have their parts to play.

a rake of gresley teaks in maroon and custard and cream, even proportion of each, look nice behind the ivatt 4MT, and prototypical for the sunderland-blackpool express' of the 1950's

I was going to say a complete Silver Jubilee set with matching A4 but someone beat me to it.

Mine would be an authentic boat train circa 1930 ish, a mixture of Maunsells and Pullmans (definitely at least one 12 wheeler) hauled by 850

    3 NER Clerestories

I think 3 NER Clerestories would be fairly do-able seems as us at Tanfield have got 2 - 3071 currently as 818 from Beamish, and the actual 818, which would need a "little" restoration.

But then theres the Officers Saloon at Preston, the Saloon at KWVR and the Dynamometer in the NRM - to name just a few...?

Mind you, the J21s another matter ....

what i would like to see , and it is very do able, as its allready runing is for the IOW to put back a fully working push-pull set up in their former push and pull set and equip Freshwater to operate in push- pull mode, that would go down very well at any southern preserved line and to pay for it they could always hire the whole set out to the bluebelle, kesr or mid hants ,any takers for a push -pull terrier powered blast

Taff Vale Railway miners train, achievable as all the coaches are owned by one groups (Gwili Vintage Carriage Group) all we need is someone to either restore TVR 28 or 85 or both to pull the train.
