    I put 5029 to the back of the queue nothing against it but with 4079, 5043, 5080 and 7029 and maybe 7027 (in a few years) either in service or due to return to action in the next few years would yet another Castle returning to service be a good idea?

    It's a good point about the draughting. With the number of locomotives it would be great if there was one with the draughting modified in line with current knowledge. The saving in coal would contribute to the costs.

    I think it's a known quantity as regards what it needs doing to it, I'm still looking forward to an LNER pacific named after a 1939 derby winner returning to traffic though! As ever we have drifted from the Merchant Navy this thread is about!
