To mark the 70th anniversary of Operation Dynamo, a fleet of little ships went from Ramsgate to Dunkirk (and returned).

Various activities have been held to celebrate the event.

I think it is a source of real regret that we have chosen to send Waverley north this weekend

We need both publicity and turnover, and a routine four day visit to the West Highlands should have taken a very firm second place to being present at Dunkirk

    Note

Our Waverley is not a "little ship" but is a 1947 LNER replacement for the 1897 Waverley that was lost at Dunkirk and carries a plaque to that effect. She is the last ticketed link with the plasure steamers that took part in the evacuation - hence her relevance.

A torpedo boat from Oulton Broad was sent, just restored in time. I wish I had of known as I would of gone to see it.
