    Thanks for the reply Alexa,

My "hesitant" mate is most definitely looking forward to it!

If the A4's are "in steam" brilliant, if not no problem!

See you there on the Saturday - hopefully the weather will play ball!.............................................

Stop press: A4 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower has left the National Railway Museum at York and is now en route for Barrow Hill Roundhouse for our "East Coast Giants" gala.

Thanks to David Tillotson who waited for four hours in horrid weather to get this picture - a rare shot of the two trans-Atlantic A4s on the main line ...

Good evening Duty Druid - will post details on here just for you and Drysdale as soon as I have them - makes a change for the choice of beer to be the topic of conversation rather than railways - although the two do go together exceedingly well ;)

Many thanks. Four of us are coming by car and three of us are celebrating Birthdays within days of the event. The fourth has his Birthday in July but he does not drink anyway, so guess who is driving home.

Well it's been quite a week at the Roundhouse - and an historic one at that. We have now welcomed all six surviving A4s in preservation to the Roundhouse; not many places can say that! Both "Dwight D Eisenhower" and "Dominion of Canada" are tucked up in the Roundhouse and we await the arrival of "Bittern" early next week.

Just to remind you: advance tickets are still on sale until 3rd February through www.theticketfactory.com. And there will be on the day ticket sales during the event itself. Plenty of car parking and a free bus service from Chesterfield railway station.

There will be two large model layouts: the debut of "Grantham - the streamliner years" running all 35 A4s and "Deepcar" with all the Deltics.

Plenty of food and a real ale bar (list of beers to follow). Trade stands in the Roundhouse. Passenger trains hauled by "Bittern" and brake van rides with "Vulcan".

For those of you who have been asking, here are the details of the beers that will be available on the real ale bar at East Coast Giants, all courtesy of Ashover Brewery:

    Bitter…n - ABV 4.0%
Dominion of Canada Light Ale - ABV 3.7%
    Dwight D. Eisenhower Stout - ABV 5.0%

    Looking forward to trying them!

    Hi Duty Druid,

I was hoping to upload the pump clip artwork but technology has (temporarily) beaten me!

As to the buses, we allow 1/2 hour for the journey each way although most of the time it is less than that (as always timings are traffic-dependent). The good news is that Chesterfield are playing away on Saturday so that should ease any possible problems.
