We had a trip down to the Lanc's today, believed the weather forecasters and it rained! Sunday planned for travelling after forecasted wet day, it's now for a sunny day. Wouldn't pay them with holes in brass washers!! P1150437.JPG P1150439.JPG P1150438.JPG P1150440.JPG P1150442.JPG P1150443.JPG P1150446.JPG P1150450.JPG P1150451.JPG

We had several appointments to attend to on Saturday, but managed a quick shot at Irwell Vale. P1150454.JPG

After enjoying a wonderful sounding, sure footed non stop climb behind the Ironclad to Rawtenstall...some from day two...

Well done ELR for matching carriage rakes, these little details make a lot of difference to us enthusiasts.

Pressed for time yesterday but managed an hour or so at Ramsbottom watching 51241 (19) shunting and departing on the goods, plus passing trains. Really enjoyable and I hope the shunting demonstration is repeated in the future. Well done to all concerned. Special mention to those who had spent the previous day strimming, clearing, and roping off an excellent viewing area, plus checking for any hazards in the cleared area. The trains looked well filled, were all on time, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Went over to the ELR for the Autumn Steam Gala on Saturday 15th October

All the working LYR & LNWR locos were seen here at Ramsbottom (the pug was shunting in the yard)

Given the rare opportunity of the "viewing area" at Ramsbottom I elected to stay around there getting combinations of locos with the following results :

With five pre-grouping engines in steam, (excepting Rainhill?) has this ever been achieved in the North before? Well done ELR for putting this together.

Now this is something I like.
Lots of older, smaller engines getting the limelight.
It's nice to such a wonderful gathering of pre-grouping engines.
I didn't realise how strong Pugs were!

Lovely set of images and 'hats off' to the ELR for providing something different at Rammy. Hope this idea is carried on for future events.

I hope plenty of people made donations in the bucket at the gate at Rammy to make it happen again

An enjoyable weekend at the gala, that final cavalcade on Sunday evening was certainly worth the wait! Here's a few photos and both videos from the weekend, one of the whole event, plus a slightly extended look at the Pug charter on Saturday morning.
