I'm intending to travel over for a ride behind Braunton in the morning (Sat). Any information on weather, loco availability etc in the morning would be appreciated.

Just had a weather report from just up the road in Baxenden and it was snowing quite hard there half an hour ago, so it looks as though you made a very wise decision, Nigel. Let's just now hope that some of it stays on the ground down at Burrs to enhance what little light that there will be around for the early morning freight charter. Take your pick of the weather forecasts - they're all telling us different stories (no surprise there!) - but the general consensus from them all is that Sunday will be marginally better ... so, with arguably cynical hindsight, Saturday will probably prove to be the best!

I stood in vain at the bus stop for half an hour than walked home and cancelled my hotel booking. No bus = no train :(
I look forward to seeing photos of the event.

A really good day at the ELR today. Thanks to all involved for pulling off another brilliant gala. There is some great footage on here already, a few of my shots from the day are on my channel. Should be uploading the rest tomorrow night.

Good do at the Lancs today - one round trip from Rawtenstall got me Braunton, 44871 and the jinty on the same service! Thanks to all concerned for keeping things moving in difficult conditions (although we had more snow in Yorkshire!)

Despite the freezing conditions, the ELR pulled off a damn good show. Braunton for me was the highlight, having a full line trip from Heywood to Rawtenstall was very enjoyable. Also got some good runs behind 80080, 45407 and 44871.

Hoping that the February Gala is as even good as this.

Well Done to all at ELR for making it a good gala.

Just wanted to add my thanks for a really enjoyable Gala. I came up on Saturday and the early heads up about 49395 not running was genuinely appreciated - as was the revised timetable for which I saw before leaving home - well done. I like the look of the freight too, although I didn't acually get to see it live. A good mix of wagons, nicely jumbled up, just as I remember them.

I really enjoyed riding behind Braunton too, although I don't remember it slipping even once! Not sure if I'm actually slightly disappointed about that, a good bout of Bulleid slipping adds to the atmosphere!

    Thumbs up all round.

Nice video's guys, I see Driver Highlander was entertaining the crowds as per usual on 44871 on Saturday ;o)

Apparently Braunton had a small problem that was fixed and returned to traffic at some stage this afternoon.

My footage of the gala. Enjoy

BTW if anyone found a small fujifilm digital camera in a brown case on the wall between Irwell vale and Strongstry, please get in touch.
