This is not the final line-up as other are being negotiated for, and what has been reported so far is subject to availability.

    Thanks

Stepney: That battle is being lost unfortunately. How often do you see media reports, or tv programmes where the motive power unit is referred to as a "train" rather than an engine or locomotive? Too often!

Just as much use protesting about the terrible infiltration of radio and tv with "pun speak" or is it "metaphor speak"...I dont know.

How'sabout the cringe-worthy, and altogether ubiquitous "train-track"? Anyway, there's two months to go yet before final confirmation of the line-up. Doesn't mean I'm not excited about the prospect of copping several hitherto unseen locomotives, though!

All engines from Swanage should be in steam. They are travelling by rail in light steam, pulled by diesel.

Surely these too will need TPWS etc fitted even if they are going by mainline; albeit light steam and being towed?

No TPWS required if they are being towed.

Just a fitness to run exam and possibly an ultrasonic test on the wheels. But I’m sure someone in the know about these things can confirm if I’m right or wrong.

Are you sure? I'm not doubting you - It's just going onto the mainline what ever is quite frightening for steam nowadays if not fitted with TPWS and a black box etc even if it is in steam or not!

If they are not being driven from they do not need AWS,TPWS or OTMR.

They will need to have a UAT and FTR.

I was under the impression that all "live" engines need their own saftey systems even if they were being towed.

I remember a couple of years back the organiser of the Newton Heath depot open day tried to get 5690 leander to the event and because it didnt have OTMR it couldnt go in light steam. So it didnt go

    Light steam or not

They will need to be registered with a VAB either way.
