I wonder if NR will insist on SWT Diesel hauling their electric units to cut down the risk of fire due to Arcing?

You forget that NR Wessex & SWT are an alliance and are all but the same

I have to admit, Network Rails risk adversement may be differently if financial consequences were applied to their decisions, but similarly so should the toc's should they have to pay for the realisation of that risk...

When's the outcome of the network rail consultation on delay minutes ?

Letter received from RTC today saying their train to Exeter postponed from 9th July has now been cancelled.

And my guess is that the Oborne Bridge issue will be one of the factors that influenced this decision. So that's the end of the end of Southern steam then.....

Yes Al, it really has come to a grinding halt this year.

One diesel return trip to Swanage.

One cancelled trip to Exeter, and one Brit pushed most of the way to Weymouth and back this week.

Well, at least we can hope that the Dorset Coast trains will get into a routine soon and then Clan Line can show everyone how to do it properly on August 31st to Weymouth. Hopefully SD will do something clever with the diesel leg back to Soton on this trip in contrast to the Ollie experience.

"End of Southern Steam Cancelled"? That really would have been good news in July '67! Not so in Aug '14.
