Most interesting! The S160's have a fascinating history, and we are keen to establish as much detail of the engines at Ruddington as possible. If you are able to find any pictures we should be able to identify the cylinder blocks.

    Guys.

I've been posting a lot of old general railway stuff on this forum:

Check out the posts about MSC Hunslet DE 4001

Now it seems the ELR has done nothing to secure the future of this engine, and in fact made it's condition worse by taking parts from it, in Barry style, to make their engine work.

This diesel is rare, and historic, so will you guys have a look. Maybe it can be saved?

I'm not sure what is at Ruddington. I'll have to look for papers

Well done John, I'm glad that the Aberdeenshire pics have made it out of the shoe-box, they deserve a wider audience. Some of the other stuff, particularly at Norwich, Lowestoft and Immingham, has a familiar feel- I think we were fishing in the same waters at the same time!

If you want to extend the debate on scrapped diesel locomotives then can I suggest that one of you starts a parallel thread "Diesels being Scrapped" in Diesel and Electric Traction and I will move these posts across.

I thought the diesel and electric forum was only there for photos...

I sense your tongue is in cheek. In which case that comment may have flown rather high to be seen by some people especially anyone who really should be reading it!

This should make some people happy.

I think this is 1994, ZNTK Olesnica, Tkh 2871 undergoing it's last overhaul. My copyright of course. :)
