Fellsman 2009

Well, I have just booked three tickets for the Sept 9th trip so lets hope it does run!!

The only slight snag being that the Northern rail link to get the train at Lancaster is to the 5:40am from Skipton and I have to get off at Long Preston on the way home.

I guess I could catch the train in the morning at Long Preston but part of the attraction is the run round the Blackburn to Hellifield line.

 

Why not take the train from Long Preston instead of Skipton to Lancaster as a single and detrain the Fellsman at Long Preston on the return? Evidently there is a one hour wait at Preston Station due to pathing issues so you miss a few miles but quite a long time hanging around on Preston Station. Alternative is to take the Virgin service back to Lancaster as they will accept Fellsman tickets from Preston.

 

Thanks - we will be leaving the train at Long Preston on the return, I am ok as I only live 2 mins walk from Hellifield so will be getting the early train there in the morning, I have friends who live in Skipton so are travelling from there so the boys can have a beer or three!!

If the return is on time, it fits perfectly with a service train picking up at Long Preston 10 mins after the Fellsman departs. I gues if Gordan is on the regulator thoguh previous experience would suggest we may arrive a little early.

 

Statesman Rail website is now showing the locos for the next four Fellsmans...

46115 on 5th, then 5690 on 12th, 19th and 26th.

 

Hi. I should be out for the return run at Ais Gill today. Working this morning so cant make the outward leg. Anyone photin or riding?
