I think what some are missing is the dynamic of the trip . This isn't an out and back tour , but one broken down into multiple segments with opportunity for those in devon and Cornwall to join the train at a convenient point and time and return . Differential marketing and trips in theory adding a bigger cash flow

yes likely to alienate the die hards but as a business model watch it catch on

60mph max given on RTT. I wonder if Ian Riley is sneaking in 44871 to take the place of 60103 and steal some of the fame? No one will notice.....[IMG]

I will be proved wrong no doubt but why would anyone waste a £100 on what is effectively a positioning move at the crack of dawn to a destination that offers nothing and on the steam leg involves you hanging around on two pathing stops of over half an hour in total?

The one downside of the 75mph B1 not being available. Only 2 inches taller in the wheel but makes a significant difference on certain stretches.

Interesting that FS is going solo to Penzance from Plymouth after doubleheading with the Black 5 over the Devon Banks. There are one of two hills west of the Tamar, you know.

So does that mean on the first THE > TAU leg we have 60103 & 44871 TnT with a diesel on the back?

Well, the diesel does have to get to Taunton somehow to bring the train back and the train is only booked in Taunton (P2) for under 20 minutes......

Glad Free2Grice has worked it all out. I was getting a bit confused looking at RTT for Thursday. Once you see it in terms of Diesel A and Diesel B it makes a lot more sense!

I didn't realise 44871 was double-heading the Theale to Taunton leg - that explains why it is going to Southall tomorrow and not the West Somerset.

I assumed it was double heading, but I misread the info thinking it was steam TnT

    I now see its 60103 + 44871 TnT with Diesel A

Thought the black 5 came on at Taunton? So it’s double headed steam with diesel on rear?

Looks like it is - for the Theale to Taunton bit, but not for the Taunton to Plymouth leg where the diesel goes light engine.
