Problem tomorrow will be folk thinking they can stand /film anywhere they think is ok. So there will be trespass galore with no lineside pass available on the ELR .

Judging by my recce today, people use it as a public footpath and dog walking area anyway.

Lets not get carried away in a tidal flow regarding Flying Scotsmans long time future, re 10 year overall and mainline trips.
Make the most of the running at the ELR, what a spectacular scene on TV .
Sad to say its future will depend what happens on January 20th.
Then take one step at a time....

Got to find me first. And I am dressed like a local, tho I think the man at primark look may be a bit over dressed.

The ELR don't really come down on anyone on the line, as it's now seen as the "Norm" and the rumour that the trackbed is owned by the council, does little to persuade anyone from going lineside. Also, there's the volunteers who come down the line with a collection bucket, and seem to have no issue with you been lineside. Not forgetting the early morning photo charters that are organized at Burrs and not a word was said, when everyone would walk up the line.

On a preserved railway that's how it should be, railway photographers can be the eyes of the railway and keep the uninitiated in order. On several occassions I've stopped people who've left their brain at home not to do stupid things at the lineside. With the media coverage the ELR is going to be under siege from these sort of people so the streetwise insiders may become a valuable asset.

I'm sure the ELR on Facebook/Twitter mentioned 34092 and the Crab, but I can't find the comment in question.

I'm similarly sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! ;)

While I was at Bury, some bloke on the BBC local radio was doing a live broadcast from Preston, claiming the Scotsman was going there for water, what was that all about?

It's quite a semantic leap to go from someone saying "the trackbed seems to be used as a footpath" to turn that into their saying "it's OK that people trespass on the trackbed ..."

Sematic or not is it not trespass either way for the public to use it as a footpath or the enthusiast ! The other thread mentions trespass ( flooding at Summerseat ) so I cant' be that far wrong . My reason for highlighting what will happen tomorrow is that the ELR do not condone trespass and nothing more .

Sounds like its going to be a lineside scrum this weekend & next, whether its league or union I'll leave you to decide given the "world & his wife" are likely to turn up!

Though I won't be one - I'll happily wait for her the hysteria to die down & or her to come 'Darn Sarf' ;) :)

A Bulleid, a Crab and Scotsman? Ah, all three worthwhile members of the Big 4 covered.
