Nothing actually says towed, it's more likely that this will be the light test run with the diesel as the security as is normal practice when WCRC do light test runs.
Again one person makes a comment based on RTT which as we know never mentions steam, so next thing the rumour mill swings into action....

look back to 46100, that had to be towed under steam back to crewe because the paperwork had not been completed, so it could be the case here, whilst 60103 its self may be ready to undergo a light test, if the VAB have not been able to issue the permision to test paperwork in time, that would explain it, so a towed run to Carnforth, then once the paperwork is in hand, a light and loaded test

To go via Hellifield from copy pit requires a reversal at Blackburn.

Could go via Preston. Just keeps it away from the Manchester area.

WCML north of Preston isn't such a problem.

It was planned to complete the repaint on road 2 at Baron St on the ELR according to my source.

The Broadfield section on the Heywood line is closed to traffic until at least the 14th Feb according to the ELR website.

I would have thought that Painting would have been done at the NRM, Inside where there is temperature control and nothing that can land, or drip onto the gloss paint whilst its drying, Painting an loco, out in the open, in February when it is cold and damp is not a good idea even inside if done inside, in the works, the changes of temperature must affect the paint.not to mention condensation.

Even inside the shed, there will still be issues with temperature and condensation, february is not the month generally when you want to be painting either loco's or coaches, whilst you can heat up your working area, overnight temperatures will plummet, and then you get blooming, so you have to rub back and start again, If i were painting 60103, i would be saying to the NRM, if you want the best possible finish, can we do it somewhere in the museum , either in the workshop, or in the great hall.

Having painted coaches whilst it's snowing outside, you do notice the difference between a shed and a nice warm paintshop. :) From memory, I don't think we've had any problems with paint bubbling since the paintshop, although I only experienced one or two coaches pre-paintshop, one of them definitely suffered from paint bubbling.
