Seeing as the loco change is at York, is there a chance that the train may arrive in platform 5?

I know platform 10 is the usual platform for steam but I gather that's because it's the only platform water can be taken on, something FS will not need at York, having just left the NRM.

That's the charter in connection with the GBRf naming at the NRM.

well it looks like we need to return to the days before RTT, when the essentials for filming were patience, a good guess and a camp stool on the platform. Now assuming we the more experienced are all fairly sensible with our trespass risk and track safety, is there any way to set up a closed list to share info?

this secrecy is frankly ridiculous. The only reason there was a huge turnout last time was because of continual hype building to a crescendo. Thats been and gone now, the press have moved on, its yesterdays chip wrappers.

Its frankly ridiculous because you inquisitive southerners could not keep away from the lineside.

Well done, you have spoilt it for the rest of us, now get your cracket, camping stove, and sarnies out, and hope somebody gives you a bit of gen.

From my perspective, I'd hardly call St Neots 'southern', more like Oop North - ain't our fault the country bumpkins in Cambridgeshire decided to spoil the moment. :Banghead: :Banghead: :Banghead:

Same old story, the minority spoil it for the majority!

So the timings for FS have been withdrawn, I for one am not surprised as she is railway 'Royalty' & you never see timings for the Royal train whizzing her Maj about the country, don't ever hear an outcry about that!......;)

Oh, and pray tell, just how are you going to gag local media from shouting it from the rooftops when they know FS is passing through their patch?............................

It's old news now Scotsman has come and gone so I doubt if the local press are now interested. Not surprised at NR, another massive overreaction that only the British can do. The very keen ones will now go to the lineside early to make sure and have even more time to trespass.

Finally got round to seeing 60103 at York on Saturday. Looking forward t seeing her in steam soon. 16 years ago this month was the last time I saw her in steam (and so far only time).

I had to laugh. Just been looking at twitter. NRM tweeted that 60103 returns to action tomorrow and they want people to stay safe when viewing her pass by. They will have trouble viewing her if they don't know what time the trip is running.

What's really worrying about the Guardian report is that it says all of her future trips on the ML will have the timings kept secret.
So if we wanted to book a future trip would we not know what the timings are until getting the tickets? How can anyone book when they don't know what time the train is going to leave?

Of course its hit the press, ye gods some people have no idea. I can see the meeting now.
"We need to keep people away from the line side, and dampen down the hype - any ideas?"
"Well CJ, we could keep the trips a secret"
"Good idea Perrin, I'll tell the press"

So had 60103's February run been York - Newcastle, you're telling me that all the God fearing northerners would have stayed on the right side of the fence? Don't think so. Stupidity knows no geographical bounds.

the secret of course is to check out the promoters web sites for trips some time in the future, they all have a rough time slots, make a note of them and compare them to similar past non FS trips. I can pin all of them down to an hour. The surrey hills one will be spectacularly easy.
