    We have undertaken an assessment of the viability of returning the Class 121 former Severn Tunnel Emergency Train bubble car units (977975 & 977976) to working condition and have concluded that making either one of them serviceable is beyond our means.

    Both units have been stripped of many parts by the previous owner and we have taken the generators (installed for their former Severn Tunnel role) out for use in our GATEX coach set and the steam rake that we are refurbishing.

    We have therefore declared the two 121 bubble car units surplus to requirements and are putting them up for sale.

    There are still many useful spares on these units and in addition, we have many spares available to make good many of the items that have been stripped off.

    Pricewise, we are only looking for the scrap value – we estimate that these units weigh about 30 tons.
