    The Legend has begun

There are few very new build steam locomotives which I believe will ever capture the imagination of the General Public in the way that 60163 Tornado has, but this new-build Patriot will be one of them. When completed, it will be a mobile memorial in lined rich LMS maroon or shining BR brunswick green not only for my fallen comrades but for whole generations of people and, sadly generations to come. If we have any feelings for such things at all we undertake remembrance in our own ways. What more fitting a way than by a recreating a locomotive design that once carried this sombre message once before; lest we forget?

Walking through the works last Saturday morning I noticed that the front buffer beam has been fitted to the frames.

I would like to get involved with this project. Is there anyone I can contact about becoming a member of the group who are building the engine.

"Frames" and "cut" in the same sentence have had such connotations for 50 years it's odd to see them together as good news!

Looks like things are happening looking at how advanced the dragbox is in the photo. Hopefully they will update the website soon with some build photos etc
