On a TPO - Where else?
I've not been back from the GCR long and have finally thawed out. I have spent two days on the TPO and boy was it cold. TPOs are electric heat, steam engines are steam heat thus NO HEAT!!!!

Great time was had though. I have to say that it was hard to put the leather pouch out of the coach on the last trip today due to the cold air coming in through the open door as we approached Quorn.

Total respect to the loco crews who get up at some silly hour to prepare the locos in the cold and dark.

Credit to you as well bhallett. Thanks for being one of those who made sure so many of us had a good weekend. As far as heat is concerned, steam or electric, with half the side of the coach open while you are going along I suppose you've got no chance regardless of the type of heat!
    Thanks again for your efforts.

    Regards,

    Paul

I went yesterday and had a brilliant time, even if it was freezing. My videos will be up soon.

Nice video, just one point about the name of you video file, that beast that you call a Q4 is actually a Q6 ](*,)

At least I wasn't the only one to muddle up Q4 and O6 or Q6 and O4!

Had a brilliant day on Saturday, came home with two full tapes of video which even when edited will make over an hour of entertainment. And yes, my mate and I added a donation to the price of the car park at Quorn and the time tables. Special thanks to the chap in the beer tent who served us at 5:30 when he was trying to restock for the evening. Rounded off the day perfectly.

Just one, very small criticism of the timetable: it was a shame that the mineral wagons were backed into the lie-by siding at Quorn 10 minutes or so before the afternoon TPO drop, masking the view from the west side of the line. Sir Lamiel made up for it with a stonking accelleration through the station!! Lovely loco, that.

What I can say! What an excellent weekend and a superb Gala. The night shoot at Loughborough shed was incredible, and the lighting for photographing was awesome. 3 photographs from me at the moment which are:

    1) Stanier 8F, 48305 (as 48773) over the pit at Loughborough shed on the Friday night shoot.

    2) BR Britannia, 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' with a train to Leicester North in the snowy conditions on Sunday.

    3) SR King Arthur Class, 30777 'Sir Lamiel' with the 2.26 from Quorn to Leicester North.

No chance of reinstating the steam heat in the future given most of the vehicles are Mk1 ?.

Not much choice really, it was so dull it wasn't worth bothering with colour without making it look fake and over processed.
