The GCRN is one of those lines that to my mind is "out of the spotlight", I recall giving up on an out of date website two or three years ago. So, following the link above to the GCRN website it was good to find that their homepage is uptodate, with half-term 2013 services and drive a loco detail. However, try the menu for other parts of their website: Steam group, last update October 2010. News updates, March 2011, photo and video updates, May 2009..etc....sorry, but whats the point having a website that doesn't give you very much remotely up to date information?

    All.

The GCRN Facebook page is generally updated by me. But I do agree that the website has been a major source of angst since I became Commercial Manager in August last year.

With that in mind, we are in the process of putting a new website together, a preview of which can be found HERE (Click Me) I am in the process of adding information to it at the moment and hope to have it live within the next few days.

    Hope this helps

    Phil

Well, notwithstanding it being a work in progress and all that, you might like to check your list of diesels - one number incorrect, one BR and several industrials missing, and no DMUs mentioned. But it's a step in the right direction, anyway!

Phil-S : Thanks for the link to the new website.

Perhaps as you build up the website you could have a "Gallery", with some images of what there is to see at your Ruddington base, ie station, signalbox, engine shed etc.

    Good start though.

A gallery is on the to do list and will eventually be added under the Enthusiasts section. I want to get the basics in place (and the info correct! I did have the wrong no. for one of the 08's but still not sure which diesel loco i've missed  (been a long few days)) then expand over time.

Incidentally, the new website is live from today so all further edits will be on the live site, not the preview link i posted.

    Cheers

    Phil

Does the GCRN really offer "Over 10 miles of heritage railway" though as I thought it was more like 9.25 miles?

Re: 9f to visit GCR North may day to raise funds for 6880.

The mainline is 9.72 miles and the spur from Ruddington to 50 Steps is about 3/4 of a mile so in reality, yes, it is over 10 miles. Only just though.

    cheers

I have received an e-mail from David H informing me that Ivatt 46521 is now confirmed as visiting from GCR Loughborough. Looking to be a good event.

We were going to be doing the same for 92203 anyway, so what's the difference between the star guest now coming from Hampshire instead of Norfolk?
