My footage from the Saturday of the gala, and a very enjoyable gala it was too.

    Enjoy :)

That's 3809, the wheels are right in front of the frames and the boiler out in the yard. The other Austerity is Robert, that one has its wheels under it and the boiler again outside somewhere.

So finally got the edit sorted, it would be rather nice if all other gala days have as much variety in trains, weather and colours this year, it could be a very busy year!

A personal opinion of course but that has got to be one of the most wonderful photographs of any steam locomotive I have seen; it really epitomises the whole "thing" about this fantastic way of life that we just weren't prepared to see vanish. It has everything: the light, the train in the distance, the signal lights, the driver, the locomotive ready to start etc. Well done Macko!

Thank you Kinghambranch, I'm humbled by your kind words. I do agree though it's hard to believe that just about everything in that image is volunteer driven, we should never lose sight of how much has been achieved in our hobby.

    Cheers

My Pics from the Sunday of the event, family commitments prevented me visiting on other days and enjoying some of the stunning snow shots that others have got: GCR Winter Gala - a set on Flickr

Thanks for a decent start to the year as ever GCR, will be back when Swithland is open for viewing.

Here is my video from the gala - thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great to see 6023 working again!

I think the other videos and photographs on here have been outstanding, well done to all and thanks for sharing!

Nice selection David, though it's astonishing how quickly the snow disappeared, hard to imagine it was the same weekend.

Taken care of on the day and I have made subsequent contact, but I must emphasise it wasn't posed! I've been pleasantly surprised by the reaction to the shot. I really did very little work to the image, it was just a combination of things coming together some by design, mostly by luck :)

    Cheers
