Oh do give it a rest. I happen to believe the NRM got it right whereas you don't. I've challenged that view - as have others. We are each entitled to an opinion but anybody is allowed to say "I think you're wrong mate," That is not bullying and I resent the accusation.

But you didn't just say that did you. You behaved like a bully and tried to belittle. Others disagreed, but in a way in which I had no problem. You on the other hand, and I have seen you adopt this stance with others you have disagreed with.

Don't bother I shall not post anything on here again because I do not like your attitude or behaviour and I am not interested in belonging to what, after all, is a debating society where there is an obnoxious individual who just cannot debate in a civilised way.

In more interesting news, currently waiting for the safety briefing, this is my first ever shoot, so pretty exciting! The light was lovely toward the end of the day.
I actually thought it was great, the way they were posed during the day. It allowed everyone to get a proper look and 'broadside' pic of every variant of the livery on show.

Just quit with the bullying accusations please. Stating one's point in a robust manner is not bullying.

You clearly haven't noticed it, can I suggest you scroll up and look at the photo included in post 102?
Maths has never been my strongest subject, but I seem to be able to count six A4 locomotives sat alongside each other - ie. six lined up. I also seem to recall endless photos posted on the forum last year where people had taken photos of six A4 locomotives sat in a line at York.

I have to confess I'm not interested enough to scrutinise adverts, but I thought NRM had advertised seeing the things all together in the same place (which they've done countless times now), even if you want to be pedantic about lining the blessed things up - the photo above and posted previously shows that they were stuck in a line on adjacent tracks for those who want to fuss over that too.

Of course here I believe you have a very valid point, I pay my taxes and therefore my interests should be catered for above everyone elses... I enjoy taking photographs and would very much like to recreate the scene and photograph the atmospheric sight from days gone by where there were the last remains of five A4 class locomotives in various states of surcoming to the cutter's torch, with a sixth locomotive looking forelornly on, its time also soon to draw to an end. I'm too young to have witnessed the sight first hand and think it is an absolute disgrace that the NRM (my musuem, because I pay taxes, so I have paid for it) have not been prepared to scrap the bloomin' things just so I can take the one photograph I would dearly love to. I think it is a travesty that countless thousands of people have been able to wander around and enjoy looking at them when I can't take the photograph which I should be able to. <moan><moan><whinge><whinge>

But as the owners, it is up to them to do what they want with her, and if they want to preserve her in 'as was when last used' then that's what they can do. If over the passage of time the condition has deteriorated more then again it's their decision to keep her like that. I seem to remember this same argument being used about CoB.

I have just gone through the last few pages of this thread and I see no evidence of bullying, I see normal disagreement, a regular fact on this forum, a discussion where one member thinks that another is wrong in his statements, and points this out. Nothing more. We all have to sometimes stand back and perhaps quietly admit to ourselves that maybe, just maybe, we were wrong.

Thank you for posting, KristianGWR. I see that at the end of your footage, all six were in line and plenty of people were taking photos. Was this during the public opening times?

Don't worry RalphW. I shall not enter into any debate or post any comment on here again. I see now that horrible cooked pig meat container 81 can treat others how he likes and not be able to take any criticism in return.

And with the greatest respect, Drysdale, your last posting has definitely lost you the argument. In my opinion, of course...

Back on topic, thanks to Peter (Owd Sweedy) for the information on the agreement and insurance cover for 8 & 10. That puts a very large spoke in the wheel of the argument about why the A4 reunion was not taken further afield. Given the froth that's been generated both here and elsewhere, it would seem that that information was not generally known.

I've not been to any of the previous gatherings and didn't really have an urge to until Monday when I thought that I haven't seen '8 & '10 for fifty years and I probably won't see them again so I made a last minute decision to go the next day. Long queues so we temporarily abandoned it, went for lunch and returned in the afternoon when it was much easier to get in. In the end it was a bit nostalgic and brought a lump to my throat. I didn't take any photographs (not my scene) but, to my amazement, SWMBO did. As far as I can recall, this is the first time in over forty years that she has photographed a locomotive and I was a bit taken aback. What's more, she has managed to get a couple with all six locos in view so it can't have been that difficult! OK, they weren't lined up in perfect echelon but all six front ends were in shot.

I enjoyed it and I didn't think I would, as did SWMBO. Well done to all those at the NRM who were involved (past and present).

Two humble offerings from today, got there and parked without a problem around 2pm and the crowds thinned out after 4pm.
    Well worth the trip.

Just got back home, it's not often I use the word 'magical' to describe an event, but it really was. The buzz from the crowds in the day (hardcore queueing of what must have been an hour to 'cab' SNG - worth it!) and the silence of the night shoot were both brilliant in their own way. The various teams and individuals involved have done an outstanding job.
