So how many of you are scrabbling around trying to book days off to travel on/lineside what has got to be the tastiest GWR mainline menu in many a long year?
I reckon there will be a good few depleted bank balances by the end of June.:)

Hats off to tyseley for pathing a Hall from Bristol to Plymouth as I'm sure i've read that there were problems with pathing a 60mph loco (caveat - I could be horribly wrong) . I would really like to see twin Halls over the south Devon banks at some point so maybe that dream isn't dead just yet

Martin if you are right about difficulties pathing 60mph loco's between Bristol and Plymouth, I'm sure that the close co-operation between FGW and TYS have managed to overcome them for what is a special one off train.

I'm sure that was one of the reasons why 7802 stopped doing the Torbay's

Now that is what you call a rail-tour programme! I will be out to see a few of those runs. 5043 to Salisbury will be one not to miss.

Although it's a tasty prospect, it's trumped, for me, by 777+34067 from Bristol to Penzance on the same day. Happily, Tysley's finest will be running through the Cherwell valley, past the end of my road, several times in the coming months.

Pick of the bunch for me are The Cornishman, The Red Dragon and The Britannia Banker.

Well done Tysley, let's hope they all sell out!

Another Red Dragon, but with 5043, would be good - or is that just being greedy?

As i recall it was gauging restrictions which 7802 had to slow for rather than the 60MPH limit which was the problem, perhaps the restrictions have been lifted or don't apply for a Hall ?, certainly i'll be booking the Cornishman i think, been too long since a Hall & Double Chimney Castle have been that way.

Correct on the gauging issues as one factor the other being load haulage capabilities, speed was not an issue as 7802 was 75mph registered fast for a manor but true.

    Cheers Dave

Ah bu**er! I forgot about the doubleheader! looks like I will miss 5043 then. We are hoping to book on the 30777+34067 trip although money is a bit tight at the moment. There are a number of good trips coming up and the only one we can afford so far is Tornado to Swansea on 1st March. We also want to book on the Clan Line trip to Weymouth but my Dad has car trouble at the moment and he might have to spend a bit on that.
