Pics will follow, as I forgot the camera! shame as it was very plesant running light engine along the extension, taking in the scenery and dreaming of the future...... \:D/

At last a pictorial update. The pictures below show 15 panel's worth of sleepers laid, and the rails alongside ready to be inserted. The first 4 lengths of rail are now in place as well, and work will continue over the next two weeks until all the rails are inserted. Some of the chairs on the sleepers require replacement before the rails can go in. The pictures also show land to the left being cleared. Here a long siding will be constructed to accomodate vehicles from the Swansea Vale Railway.

In the middle picture the handrails on the bridge can clearly be seen, compare this to the previous photo from the same location which is a couple of pages back on the thread.

Latest news from the 'non trackwork' side of the project is that the railway has sucessfully re-applied for the Planning Permission to be renewed for a further 5 years

    http://www.ukplanning.com/carmarthenshi ... er=W/19935

We have also recently signed an agreement with a local trust body who will now pursure possible grant applications on the railway's behalf. This trust body have a track record (pardon the pun) of securing funding in the local area, so we are optimistic that some results will come, but as ever there are no guarantees.

On the ground, the rails have been inserted into around half of the 15 panels so far.

You will find it easier to replace the whole sleeper rather than try to replace the individual chairs.
The bolts will probably be coroded or the insert in the concrete will have disintegrated.
I know that some railways are replacing this style of track and may have some available if required.

yes, I'm down Saturday and Monday as Guard. See you then!

Just for info all the rails have now been inserted and attention has now turned to installing a point immediatley south of the present track limit for the siding which will hold Swansea Vale Railway stock.
