Ever such an informative video there, really put some confidence into the project, I mean not any old amateur could put that together...

Watching that video clip It seems they want to convert 2859 into a 4-6-0 with a Hawksworth tender ?

They could have at least made the effort to a trip to the svr for 2857 or waited a bit until 2807 is operational again, it's not as if it would be difficult to get footage of either.

Putting my brutal realistic hat on. A decent GWR no1 boiler. Cylinders, piston rods and presumably piston heads. Hate to say it but. Spares for others.

Why the rather long term questions Stuart, don't really see the relevance at the moment! We're (or at leastvwe were) more interested in how it was going to get there...

The surviving 2800s, along with 5322 are the only survivors of Churchward's original standardisation scheme. But, unlike 5322, 2859 is nowhere near unique. If support for its restoration is to be forthcoming then a positive indication of what is planned for it needs to be given. Where is restoration to take place? Where is to be based when complete? What is its intended use, has any railway been consulted as to the suitability for its line?

Unfortunately without such planning at this stage I cannot see any significant support, financial or otherwise, being forthcoming.

you get to go lalalalalalalala whilst doing a merry told you so dance

Whilst the association of Western Falcon Rail is positive for Stuart and brings some kudos , I cannot help by being a little concerned by the misfortune that has befallen 47701 and also the coaches previously owned / associated

When, after 10 years or so of hard graft in the cold and rain, you achieve this, you can come back here and crow and we all admit we are wrong. In fact if you even manage to purchase it and start restoration somewhere, I will do that!

I'll eat my greasetop - complete with 40+ years of grease! Stuart, you have consistently refused to follow advice and, IMHO, don't seem to be in touch with reality.
I don't see this project getting any further than any of your previous schemes and that's a shame as this could be a useful loco in other hands. Ray.

You will have proved all on here wrong and then implement owners prerogative and annoy us by painting it pink with yellow spots. Ain't going to happen though.

I think everyone here would be perfectly happy for 2859 to be painted pink with yellow spots if you get to that stage...

Ooh, they've got a target that isn't to do with likes! Is this a reasonable price? I have absolutely no idea!
