And what about locos? The Cornishman gives either a Castle, which is unlikely as the only operational one is at Tyesley who probably won't let it go by low loader, a King, so 6023, or any number of Halls, maybe Kinlet from WSR as 4270 is going there for their SSG?

I still haven't seen (or heard!) that King. That would be a nice addition.

Wasn't there a mention of 34092 being a part of this gala somewhere? How about a Brit they fit in easily with many themed galas.

Do the owners of Kinlet Hall allow it to be moved by road?

Can I respectfully ask that we don't get too carried away naming locos yet... Any negotiations with all owners are made harder when speculation is rife! We are making progress, we just can't (and don't want to) jeopardise any talks. What's too say that the blog post picture was a curve ball thanks folks!

Travelled by road to the P&DSR for summer 2012 as it wasn't in gauge going down through Torquay but could go the other way as she ran to the WSR for that year's ASG. 4936 has previously been to the GWSR in her last ticket.

Never visited the GWSR...so watching this with interest to see what the attractions are! The only downside for me is the thought of driving back up north on a Bank Holiday Monday evening :Morewaitingisrequired:. But thats not the railways fault!

Strictly speaking I don't think Kings worked the Cornishman as they were too heavy for Tyseley - Bristol (and obviously Plymouth onwards), maybe confused with the Cornish Riveira from Padd ?.

Seaside/Named Expresses seems a good bet as a theme,

    Cornishman - "A Hall"

    ACE - 35006

    Cambrian Coast - 7820

Pines - plenty of Midland/Southern candidates

Just noticed the title of this thread... If my calendar is correct then the actual dates of the event are Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th may NOT 24th -26th! Can the title get changed!

I was told by the writer of the steam loco blog at the GWSR the following:

''The first confirmed visitor will be appearing in Steam Railway Magazine at the end of the week apparently. Hopefully the second loco along with the theme will appear on this blog at about this time next week. A third loco is still being sought, an iron or two is in the fire. If we get what we have asked for, rest assured it will be a stunning line up.''

Can't wait to hear about it!!!!

Great western steam has done my job very nicely. We are very happy to announce 34092 city of wells as the first guest at the GWSR Cotswold festival of steam gala. Many thanks to the owners, 34092 partnership and the keighly and worth valley railway for releasing the locomotive. The 2015 website pages will be up and running very soon where you will be able to purchase advance tickets at a discounted price.
If you're undecided which day to come I can tell you that all locomotives will run on all three days and that apart from a possible later train on the Saturday (tbd) the timetable will be very similar all weekend. The carriage and wagon works at winchcombe will be open for tours, along with the normal collection of traction engines on the station forecourt. The brakevan rides will be in operation and we will also be selling footplate rides on the home fleet locomotives as in previous years. As we get more news we will let you all know. Thanks.
