Insurance costs was the main concern as they were extremely high IIRC.

I can see that the event is timetabled for the first gala train to leave Cheltenham at 09:20 - any idea what time the carpark and ticket office at Cheltenham opens , as thinking of going but don't have advance tickets.

Looking at the roster staff are marked down as arriving at 8am. I doubt you'll actually be able to buy tickets straight away, but there should be plenty of time.

Edit - official opening time is listed as 8:30.

I can hardly wait for this event to get started.... very much looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with this line and for getting to Broadway as well.

One question though, I saw somewhere that the car park at Toddington won't be open to the public(?) but that there will be another car park just up the Stow road?

(I'll be driving over from Tewkesbury so I'd just like to be sure, and I'd prefer not to drive down to Cheltenham)

I'm planning to park at Toddington so the car park had better be open. It does tend to fill up quickly as it's not a particularly large car park, so get there as early as possible. I'm aiming for around 08:30. There's an overflow car park which is a field on the other side of the station.

The tarmac carpark will be closed as it'll have all the trade stands, traction engines etc. All parking will be in the 2 fields on the platform 2 side. Given the weather forecast that shouldn't be a problem and there's a decent amount of room there.

I am guessing you mean should not be a problem.

Non-railway enthusiast mate reported yesterday that he saw "a big green engine called something Cromwell" on the "back of a truck(!)" heading south on the M42. Wonder where its going? :D

Yep, all the guests have now arrived, one more exam tomorrow and then I'll be free to play trains all weekend. Weather forecast has changed somewhat, still very warm, but looks like thunderstorms on Sunday now!

The first field has a gravel roadway whilst areas away from the main roadway have mattresIng just for grass fields. As the last resort, the local farmers straw bales come in useful. Yes it did rain today but we’ve had weeks of very dry spells and so the field is fine.

Heads up - three way traffic lights for road works at Toddington station round-a-bout today, looks like they've been there awhile, possible delays.

Will we be treated to a shot of everything warming up taken from the yard water tower again, that did look very impressive last time.

Heard on the grapevine there may be some wagon shunting going on at Winchcombe for interest, will see what happens tomorrow.

Anyone coming do pop into C+W and say hello, I'll probably be around tomorrow and Sunday, Monday I'm TTIing on train 1. I was going to say there'll be some live signwriting going on, but I notice they've pinched my wagon before I've finished it!
