Sorry to be a pain but I think you may have given the theme away for next years event too.
It is literally under the main title.

Cheltenham & Gloucester Steam Days for those who are struggling to read.

If that is the theme and it's being publicised like this I doubt it's an error or accident...

Well I did message them last night, they are just waiting for official announcement but they did also admit they never noticed the tagline underneath the banner.

I'm struggling to work out why "Cheltenham and Gloucester" gives the game away: pretty well free rein on any GWR or Midland loco, surely? Unless they are announcing sponsorship from a building society?

Wasn’t that bought out by Lloyds or TSB? It’s going back a few years… :)

Indeed, I had a Paddington Bear account ;)

Also remember getting a nice little payout when they sold up.

There are quite a few preserved engines that were either based at Gloucester or Cheltenham at one time. Good theme for the GWSR imo.

    1420, 3205, 4141, 5199(?), 6412, 7029, 44123 - immediately remembered but research would no doubt reveal many more.

43924 & 7808 another two off the top of my head.

Not quite a resident but I remember reading somewhere 76079 was spotted on its way to Barry.

Well, if you’re playing that game, you could have 30541 which spent its formative years in preservation at Ashchurch :)

If that was in the old Dowty yard, I recall seeing it there alongside an Army Bedford r/rail lorry.
Amongst a load of other rail vehicles.
Would that be about 1980 or earlier?

I think, if I am right [which is a very rare thing], that it will be GWR and LMS. [Excluding 35006].
In my personal opinion, I hope it sways more to the LMS side so we can see a few different types of engine and maybe just a generic pannier to keep the GWR side happy.

30541 to GWSR would be something Id be interested in very much if it did.... then again, I'm biased

    A few more examples once allocated to either Cheltenham or Gloucester;
4079 Pendennis Castle was allocated for a total of ten years during its service life (1939-44, 1948-53)
6989 Wightwick Hall was allocated from 1962 up until its withdrawal in '64
5199 saw out the last days of its service life at Horton Road up until withdrawal during 1963
4555 was allocated to Cheltenham Malvern Road during the GWR era, and may have spent a while allocated to Gloucester as well (?)

Furthermore, I'm led to believe that the 68xx 'Grange' class were regulars on the Cheltenham-Honeybourne line during the days of steam...

Or in fact any BR(S) region loco which was consigned to Barry as dead locos were not allowed via the Severn Tunnel..

Well Ploughman, I am sorry to say it said Steam Days, so, I'm afraid 1980 wasn't a steam decade, despite having some cracking Top 40 hits.

Ben Jenden, I wouldn’t mind seeing it their too, but perhaps when they want to do another GWR/SR joint theme.
As for now, if I am right, I very much look forward to a GWR/LMS joint theme.
