Well, if that's the class of filly that you get down your way, I'll stick to good ol' Yorkshire breeding stock.

OK Steve, well I did marry a lady from York so perhaps you are correct.

Anyway, back to the Bridges to Broadway Share Issue: the GWSR "Boardroom Blog" has just announced that the total raised so far is approx. £245000 which is not far off that magical half-way mark. Clearly income will drop as those who, like me, were just waiting for the launch, purchase their shares and then try to encourage others. We are also approaching the expensive festive season so I would expect share purchase to drop somewhat at this time. However, progress at Broadway and indeed at other areas of the GWSR remains impressive and I look for ward to the New Year and the signal box at Broadway rising.

Sorry, thought better of making comments about the "all female tamping team" pictured above.

Latest news on the GWSR Bridges To Broadway Share issue taken from the Railway's "GWR Boardroom Blog":

"I am very pleased to tell you that the Bridges to Broadway share issue has reached just over £250,000 a remarkable achievement in a little over 2 months.
If you are think about investing and have yet to complete your form now might be the time to put pen to application, an early Christmas present to yourself perhaps - it would be great to reach 300,000 before the end of the year.

Posters will be appearing on the Santa Trains and in local newspapers spreading the message that this is a great Christmas present of that special person who has everything.

If you are considering the offer and have any questions or would like to receive the offer document please contact Maxine Hawkins on 01242 621905 or development@gwsr.com "
Thank you to all who have purchased share thus far, especially given the financial pressures of everyday life and Christmas! Keep it going!

on reading the Broadway blog (second post down now), I noticed that work has begun on he first bridge - little Bucklands bridge, and from the loco blog an 08 has been hired in to help with track relaying and possibly some more extension towards Broadway. Also on the post some intriguing info on part of a film being filmed on the railway, I wonder if any stars were persuaded to invest...

    Lifted from the Boardroom blog:

Just four months into our appeal the total raised so far is almost £300,000 leaving just £200,000 to go. We are very anxious to place the contract in May so as to take advantage of the summer weather (assuming that we get some!) to start work – particularly the necessary foundation repairs. If we can raise the money in good time then we can allow the contractor the maximum flexibility in his operations. This will ensure the maximum efficiency in view of the different types of work required on the various bridges and the need to negotiate road closures.

If you have been thinking of buying some shares to support this work but have not got round to it yet, now is the time to make your move and support this major step towards reaching Broadway. If you need a copy of the share brochure or have any questions, do contact Maxine Hawkins on 01242 621905 and she will be happy to assist.

I wouldn't normally copy from a volunteer announcement, but this one ought to be fine, it'll probably end up on the boardroom blog a bit later anyway...

Do you have an empty jam jar, pickle jar or something similar? Then you could be collecting loose change to help us re-build Broadway Station.

An empty jar placed on a window ledge, hallway table or anywhere handy for popping in your loose change at the end of each day will make it easy to join in. It will be surprising how much change each jar can hold and each full jar will help us to buy the much needed materials to make Broadway Station a reality by the end of 2017.

Why not get your relatives and friends involved the more the merrier - children are great at hoovering up loose change from family and visitors!

Contributors can if they wish have their names listed on a Change Champions Roll Listing by popping a note of the collectors name inside the jar or sent in with the collected cash. Alternatively donors can if they wish remain anonymous.

Let's make saving all CHANGE for Broadway a fun way to help your railway achieve its objective of getting trains back to Broadway.

Full jars can be dropped off at the Admin Office at Toddington for my attention or you can swap the change for notes at your local bank or Post Office and send me the proceeds.

How many jars can you fill?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

    Steve Sperring
    GWRT Fund Raising Director

Now up to £370,000 (despite the BBC being £30,000 out yesterday) and everything is going rather swimmingly, with work on little bucklands due to start shortly hopefully, with the running season in full swing again, maybe shares will start coming in again from unbeknowing visitors, apparently all the tax benefits cease to exist at the end of this tax year, so you better hurry up!
