Double headed 73's and a 4tc! ;) Joking aside I hope this goes well for you. Would something like a 20/26/27 fit?

A 73 may be ok. 20/26/27 we would need to look at the axle weight. The opportunity has been taken during the planning of this event to check the Max height we can accommodate, That could open a few avenues for us. Just hope we at least break even on this one!

Just going through a Platform 5, axle loading does not seem to be one of the printed stats! However looking at the stats of a 33/2 weight wise in theory it shouldn't be a problem, just axle loading and height to be considered. However all the above is irrelevant if as you say this event dosn't cover it's costs! And I really hope it does!

In the realms of diesel galas the Isle of wight railway is a real novice. Each year we learn something new and try to it better next time. The rule of thumb is the event should be given 3 tries and if after the third it does not make a profit it is then droped from the calendar. As you can imagine and as I have said before there was ney still is resistance to the diesel event. If we can make a decent profit this year I hope we can stop the detractors in their tracks. Ideas are germinating for next year and we will appreciate any feedback from attendees of this years event. I will lay my cards down here and say that there could be some overcrowding on the trains as we are still short of carriages despite the best intentions of the carriage works. Please bear with us ,hope I have not put any one off from attending!

Looking at going on Friday, looks like it will be a good event! Are trains stopping at Ashey on request?

Really sorry, The 33 is not coming over today. It has been re-booked on the 17:00 Thursday night. The trailer we had to use because of height issues on the ferry was late coming in from Spain. Then it was discovered that it had an electrical fault that prevented loading. The 33 is at Swanage now, where it was transshipped and will be leaving there about mid day Thursday. Sorry for the disappointment. The 33 will be there in time for the event, fingers crossed and no more problems.

Which ship is it due to be on? I do know that they have different height restrictions. I wonder if they gauge them like Network Rail do? :)

It is booked on the 17:00 again. Not sure how they gauge it on the ship, but I think all the ships are different. We tried to get it on the 5am but that was already full. It appears to be what the state of the tide is and how works in relation to the linkspan. Another sleepless night !

I have an email somewhere that lists all the heights of the ferries in the Wightlink fleet, even ships that are of the same design have different heights! It does not help that they are a ship down after the recent engine explosion on one of the Yarmouth ferries.
