At the same time, we have just received two train headboards, donated by Andrew Wagstaff which will be displayed at the AGM.

Nice two page article by Ian Walmsley in This months' ( March ) Modern Railways on as he puts it the 'resurrection' of 10000. All good publicity.

Trustees spent the morning looking at a 16SVT engine that we hope to acquire soon. We have also been given a huge box of original engine tools, in the original box, on indefinite loan, together with the original paperwork from English Electric relating to 4 power units

More than likely.... there were 4 of these beasts at my camp, when the power system was revamped and upgraded(?), smaller sets were installed around the camp, and the 16SVT's were unceremoniously scrapped...

I don't think it's been mentioned on here but the agm on 23 March was very positive with a good attendance of about 30, twice the previous year. Stan Fletcher, the 99 year old president, was presented with a mounted replica works plate by the chairman's children and we heard about the power unit above. It seems likely the power unit(s) and bogies will move to a non-railway site if one can be found, and the 58 will probably not be worked on this year. Lots of other initiatives going on though with the drawings being converted to CAD for free, and funds being put to one side to obtain EE spares before they are all gone.

Thanks Dave, Yes we were encouraged by the attendance, twice last years'.

Yes we had planned to do some work on the 58 over the summer. That may well be placed on hold if other nerw and more pressing opportunities come to the fore, namely that second power unit, which will take some intensive volunteering to remove all the ancillary equipment too!

Fundraising is the critical aspect of the project. There is so much we could obtain now and in the immediate future. Some may not be possible if we have to balance resources. Luckily we have 55 members donating monthly. The more the merrier... and faster it all comes together!

    BREAKING NEWS!
We are very pleased to be able to announce that we have agreed in principle a price with Werkgroep 1501 in Holland for the purchase of three MV 146 traction motors, identical to those in our EM2 bogies. These motors have been stored indoors with the vents covered, and should require only minimal attention to make them useable. These are quite possibly the last available MV146 motors still in existence anywhere in the world.

Our lead engineer will soon be taking a trip to Holland to inspect the motors and discuss transport arrangements before the sale is formally agreed.

This is a huge boost to the project. Not only will it give us three spare motors, the cost is around 20% of the cost of refurbishing the motors we have, saving us literally tens of thousands of pounds. It also means that the timescale for getting one of the bogies completed with its motors installed just got considerably shorter.

We would like to thank Werkgroep 1501 for agreeing to the sale. We will post more details as the process progresses.

If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of the motors or transport to the UK, please visit the website at www.lms10000.co.uk/donate. Thanks.
